POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, 59th annual In-N-Out NHRA Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Right Lane: Will Martin Runs 5.701/263.00, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 62 degrees, relative humidity 49 percent, barometer 29.85 inches, adjusted altitude 1,812 feet.

Martin started to lose traction and pedaled it, he got it to hook.

Left Lane: Bret Williamson Runs 7.476/155.45, Now #3
Right Lane: Shane Westerfield Runs 5.500/266.21, Now #1

Williamson shook early and clicked it off.

Westerfield launched hard and kept it hooked up. Shane Westerfield's incremental times: 60ft-0.956 sec., 330ft-2.481, 660ft-3.656/211.30 mph, 1,000ft-4.654.

Left Lane: Hunter Jones Runs 8.431/126.05, Now #4
Right Lane: Christine Foster Runs 12.952/72.54, Now #5

Jones with severe tire shake and clicked it off.

Foster shook right at the hit and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Ray Martin Runs 7.734/133.95, Now #5
Right Lane: Ulf Leanders Runs 5.544/259.96, Now #2

Martin rattled the tires and clicked it off.

Leanders kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go to the number two spot. Ulf Leanders' incremental times: 60ft-0.943 sec., 330ft-2.458, 660ft-3.654/206.80 mph, 1,000ft-4.677.

Left Lane: Annie Whiteley Runs 5.473/266.58, Now #2
Right Lane: Brian Hough Runs 5.466/268.44, Now #1

This is a great side-by-side drag race.

Whiteley launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number two spot. Annie Whiteley's incremental times: 60ft-0.948 sec., 330ft-2.464, 660ft-3.635/211.83 mph, 1,000ft-4.629.

Hough with a great, just a tick slower than his quickest pass this season. He goes to the number one spot. Brian Hough's incremental times: 60ft-0.947 sec., 330ft-2.473, 660ft-3.641/212.93 mph, 1,000ft-4.629.

Left Lane: Madison Gordon Runs 6.863/99.11, Now #7
Right Lane: Sean Bellemeur Runs 5.455/266.06, Now #1

Gordon shook and clicked it off.

Bellemeur kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go to the number one spot. Sean Bellemeur's incremental times: 60ft-0.944 sec., 330ft-2.445, 660ft-3.615/211.86 mph, 1,000ft-4.610.
