Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Final Session

LAS VEGAS - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, 24th annual Ford Performance NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Right Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.769/328.46, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.192/210.01, Was #19

Weather conditions: air temperature 66 degrees, relative humidity 31 percent, barometer 29.71 inches, adjusted altitude 3,296 feet.

Schumacher launched hard and kept it hooked up to get in the show. He goes to the number 13 spot. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.845 sec., 330ft-2.153, 660ft-3.034/288.77 mph.

Right Lane: Will Smith Runs 10.317/82.51, Now #19; Best prior run: 4.053/285.65, Was #19

Smith is up in smoke right at the hit and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Josh Hart Runs 3.823/317.79, Now #15; Best prior run: 3.801/328.46, Was #15
Right Lane: Scott Palmer Runs 3.839/307.09, Now #16; Best prior run: 3.889/270.59, Was #17

Hart with another good pass, but will not improve. He stays in the number 15 spot.

Palmer kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to get in the show on the bubble.

Left Lane: Ida Zetterstrom Runs 3.841/326.71, Now #14; Best prior run: 3.786/324.12, Was #14
Right Lane: Jasmine Salinas Runs 3.791/329.34, Now #15; Best prior run: 3.865/316.45, Was #17

Zetterstrom with another good looking pass, but will not improve.

Salinas is straight down the groove and hooked up to get back in the show. Jasmine Salinas' incremental times: 60ft-0.863 sec., 330ft-2.174, 660ft-3.057/289.20 mph.

Left Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 4.354/185.72, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.743/330.80, Was #12
Right Lane: Shawn Reed Runs 3.715/327.74, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.741/324.83, Was #11

Torrence started to smoke the tires and then it appeared to break the rear end as he is leaving a trail of fluids.

Reed launched hard and kept it hooked up to make his quickest pass of the weekend. He moves into the top half of the show. Shawn Reed's incremental times: 60ft-0.843 sec., 330ft-2.119, 660ft-2.981/291.13 mph.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 10.637/52.25, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.735/323.27, Was #10
Right Lane: Tony Stewart Runs 3.703/332.59, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.738/331.94, Was #11

Weather conditions: air temperature 62 degrees, relative humidity 38 percent, barometer 29.73 inches, adjusted altitude 3,041 feet, track temperature 80 degrees.

Back after a hour and twenty minute clean up.

Brown with severe tire shake right at the hit and clicked it off.

Stewart with the header flames shooting high over the rear wing all the way down the track. He goes to the number three spot with his quickest pass of the weekend. Tony Stewart's incremental times: 60ft-0.842 sec., 330ft-2.118, 660ft-2.977/292.65 mph.

Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.700/324.75, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.729/303.43, Was #10
Right Lane: Justin Ashley Runs 3.705/331.94, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.726/332.26, Was #8

Millican launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number three spot. Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.831 sec., 330ft-2.107, 660ft-2.965/292.77 mph.

Ashley is right there with Millican to go to the number five spot. Justin Ashley's incremental times: 60ft-0.836 sec., 330ft-2.119, 660ft-2.980/293.54 mph.

Left Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.676/333.74, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.714/333.74, Was #7
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.674/334.57, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.707/330.96, Was #6

This was a great side-by-side drag race.

Torrence kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go to the number three spot. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.826 sec., 330ft-2.097, 660ft-2.954/295.66 mph.

Kalitta launched hard and was straight down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend. He goes to the number two spot. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.838 sec., 330ft-2.106, 660ft-2.956/296.89 mph.

Left Lane: Brittany Force Runs 3.674/332.10, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.660/334.98, Was #1
Right Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.672/328.30, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.676/332.51, Was #4

Force was straight down the groove with the third quickest pass of the session. Brittany Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.831 sec., 330ft-2.093, 660ft-2.950/294.63 mph.

Langdon kept the candles lit and hooked up to make the quickest pass of the session. He goes to the number two spot. Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.834 sec., 330ft-2.097, 660ft-2.946/296.83 mph.
