LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, 24th annual Ford Performance NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Right Lane: John Hale No Time, Now #1

1:39 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 68 degrees, relative humidity 20 percent, barometer 29.90 inches, adjusted altitude 3,169 feet.

Hale does his burnout and can't get the car to stop. He shuts the fuel off and has to be pushed off of the track.

Left Lane: Tim Gibbons Runs 4.245/238.85, Now #1
Right Lane: Chris Morel Runs 5.758/125.78, Now #2

Gibbons drifts a little to the right all the way through the run but he stays on the throttle and makes a decent pass. Morel has traction problems and is off of the throttle early.

Left Lane: Steven Densham Runs 4.017/291.19, Now #2
Right Lane: Jason Rupert Runs 3.996/318.62, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 68 degrees, relative humidity 20 percent, barometer 29.90 inches, adjusted altitude 3,169 feet, track temperature 99 degrees.

Densham makes a decent pass and gets in the second spot for now. Rupert goes down the groove with a good run to take the top spot for now.

Jason Rupert's incremental times: 60ft-0.891 sec., 330ft-2.282, 660ft-3.234/271.52 mph.

Left Lane: Jeff Diehl Runs 4.049/289.45, Now #3

Diehl was on a decent pass but it looked like it nosed over a little before the end of the run.

Left Lane: Paul Lee Runs 3.879/333.49, Now #1
Right Lane: Buddy Hull Runs 4.207/275.34, Now #5

Lee goes down the groove with his quickest pass of the year and he takes the top spot for now. Hull had problems near the end of the run and was off of the throttle early.

Paul Lee's incremental times: 60ft-0.872 sec., 330ft-2.237, 660ft-3.148/283.13 mph.

Left Lane: Dave Richards Runs 3.970/317.27, Now #3
Right Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 3.904/321.04, Now #2

Richards drifts a little to the right late in the run but he hangs on and makes a decent pass. Pedregon makes a clean, straight pass and gets in the second spot for now.

Dave Richards' incremental times: 60ft-0.892 sec., 330ft-2.284, 660ft-3.211/277.03 mph.

Cruz Pedregon's incremental times: 60ft-0.874 sec., 330ft-2.241, 660ft-3.154/280.43 mph.

Left Lane: Alexis DeJoria Runs 3.995/282.42, Now #4
Right Lane: Chad Green Runs 8.446/82.58, Now #11

DeJoria was on a decent pass but the car made a move to the left late in the run. She crosses the finish line, the car continues the move to the left and she scrapes the wall. Green had traction problems and was off of the throttle early.

Left Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 3.898/327.82, Now #2
Right Lane: Blake Alexander Runs 5.977/117.05, Now #12

Todd goes down the groove with a good pass and gets in the second spot for now.

Alexander gets about 300 feet out, strikes the tires, then gives up on the run.

J.R. Todd's incremental times: 60ft-0.872 sec., 330ft-2.239, 660ft-3.157/282.24 mph.

Left Lane: Daniel Wilkerson Runs 3.936/321.73, Now #4
Right Lane: Bob Tasca III Runs 7.523/87.53, Now #14

Wilkerson was on a good run but looked like he lost a cylinder just before the end of the run. He still makes a decent pass and moves into the fourth spot for now.

Tasca gets about100 feet out and loses traction.

Left Lane: Ron Capps Runs 3.860/330.96, Now #1
Right Lane: Matt Hagan Runs 4.209/218.51, Now #12

Capps goes down the groove with a good pass and he takes the top spot for now.

Hagan gets about 600 feet out and strikes the tires.

Ron Capps' incremental times: 60ft-0.873 sec., 330ft-2.229, 660ft-3.130/286.25 mph.

Left Lane: Jack Beckman Runs 3.859/332.43, Now #2
Right Lane: Austin Prock Runs 3.843/333.33, Now #1

Beckman drifts a little to the right late in the run but stays on the throttle and makes a good run. Prock goes down the groove with a good pass to end this session and take the top spot.

Jack Beckman's incremental times: 60ft-0.864 sec., 330ft-2.238, 660ft-3.134/287.17 mph.

Austin Prock's incremental times: 60ft-0.868 sec., 330ft-2.225, 660ft-3.117/287.41 mph.
