ENNIS, Texas - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, 39th annual Texas NHRA FallNationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Nick Januik Runs 5.305/276.67, Now #1
Right Lane: Greg Hunter Runs 5.386/266.71, Now #2

3:19 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 89 degrees, relative humidity 33 percent, barometer 30.02 inches, adjusted altitude 2,888 feet.

Januik goes down the groove with a decent pass to set the early pace. Hunter makes a clean run.

Left Lane: Terry Schmidt Runs 5.497/253.54, Now #3

Schmidt had cylinders out early in the run.

Left Lane: Kirk Wolf Runs 5.252/275.68, Now #1
Right Lane: Shaunda Blinzler Runs 5.285/274.96, Now #2

Wolf goes down the groove with a good run and he moves into the top spot for now. Blinzler makes a good run and gets in the field in the second spot for now.

Left Lane: Prescott Dean Runs 5.374/271.79, Now #5
Right Lane: Casey Grisel Runs 5.369/268.96, Now #4

Grisel makes a clean pass to get in the fourth spot for now, Dean just behind in fifth.

Left Lane: Joey Severance Runs 6.351/155.13, Now #9
Right Lane: Madison Payne Runs 5.316/276.48, Now #4

Severance had problems around half track and the engine went silent, not sure why. Payne made a full pass and gets in the fourth spot for now.

Left Lane: Megan Smith Runs 5.795/250.54, Now #10
Right Lane: Karen Stalba Runs 5.264/274.56, Now #2

Smith had a cylinder out all the way through the run. Stalba makes a good pass to get in the second spot for now.

Left Lane: Matthew Cummings Runs 5.276/276.26, Now #3
Right Lane: Joe Maynard Runs 5.277/271.56, Now #4

A good side-by-side, both down the groove with good passes. Cummings gets in the fourth spot, Maynard just behind in the fourth spot, for now.

Left Lane: Angelle Sampey Runs 5.262/278.55, Now #2
Right Lane: Julie Nataas Runs 18.771/42.81, Now #15

Sampey goes down the groove with an impressive run and gets in the second spot. nataas goes up in smoke at the hit and has to abort the run.

Angelle Sampey's incremental times: 60ft-0.960 sec., 330ft-2.438, 660ft-3.530/229.22 mph, 1,000ft-4.459.

Left Lane: Shawn Cowie Runs 5.286/276.55, Now #8
Right Lane: Jackie Fricke Runs 5.243/279.07, Now #1

Cowie makes a decent pass and gets in the eighth spot. Fricke goes down the groove with the quickest pass of the round so far and takes the top spot.

Jackie Fricke's incremental times: 60ft-0.947 sec., 330ft-2.418, 660ft-3.512/229.22 mph, 1,000ft-4.442.

Left Lane: Mike Coughlin Runs 5.276/272.98, Now #6
Right Lane: Hunter Green Runs 5.310/274.56, Now #11

Coughlin makes a decent pass and gets in the sixth spot. Green was moving around a little on the top end and he gets in the 11th spot to end this session.
