Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Final Session

POMONA, Calif. - Notes from final, round 2 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, 64th annual NHRA Winternationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Alex Miladinovich No Time, Now #17; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 55 degrees, relative humidity 60 percent, barometer 29.81 inches, adjusted altitude 1,460 feet.

Miladinovich broke when he hit the throttle...

Left Lane: John Force Runs 3.996/318.99, Now #1; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Chris Morel Runs 6.717/98.65, Now #16; No Prior Run

Force is straight down the groove to go to the top of the list. John Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.870 sec., 330ft-2.280, 660ft-3.235/272.72 mph.

Morel starts to lose traction and pedals it one time and can't get it to hook up and clicks it off. He still gets in the show.

Left Lane: Jason Rupert Runs 6.283/106.46, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.608/90.68, Was #17
Right Lane: Jim Campbell Runs 4.162/275.45, Now #5; No Prior Run

Rupert starts to lose traction and pedals it. The car gets real loose again and he pedals it to get in the show.

Campbell is straight down the groove to get in the show. After the finish line the car makes a move toward the wall before he gets the chutes out.

Left Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 3.982/309.27, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.435/105.62, Was #17
Right Lane: Alexis DeJoria Runs 5.477/185.77, Now #15; No Prior Run

Pedregon kept it hooked up and was straight down the groove to go to the number one spot. Cruz Pedregon's incremental times: 60ft-0.888 sec., 330ft-2.287, 660ft-3.217/276.92 mph.

DeJoria started to rattle the tires and she was off the throttle. She let it settle down and was back on the throttle again. The car started to mix up cylinders and clicks it off, she still gets in the show.

Left Lane: Buddy Hull Runs 4.823/173.38, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.076/121.05, Was #17
Right Lane: Steven Densham Runs 7.130/93.50, Now #20; Best prior run: 11.841/78.11, Was #20

Hull started to push over by the centerline and clicked it off. He still gets in the show.

Densham starts to lose traction early and clicks it off

Left Lane: Ron Capps Runs 3.893/326.71, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.238/147.12, Was #14
Right Lane: Paul Lee Runs 3.992/321.42, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.049/110.95, Was #17

This is a good looking side-by-side drag race.

Capps launched hard and was on a good looking pass until right in the light when it lit up. There was quick flash of flames. He still goes to the number one spot. Ron Capps' incremental times: 60ft-0.866 sec., 330ft-2.237, 660ft-3.153/282.72 mph.

Lee kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go to the number three spot. Paul Lee's incremental times: 60ft-0.875 sec., 330ft-2.292, 660ft-3.238/274.39 mph.

Left Lane: Terry Haddock Runs 3.999/308.50, Now #6; Best prior run: 4.669/188.31, Was #13
Right Lane: Bobby Bode Runs 3.972/292.96, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.361/134.39, Was #16

Haddock with another three-second pass, straight down the groove with a good looking pass. Terry Haddock's incremental times: 60ft-0.905 sec., 330ft-2.300, 660ft-3.230/275.96 mph.

Bode launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number two spot. Bobby Bode's incremental times: 60ft-0.870 sec., 330ft-2.262, 660ft-3.196/278.12 mph.

Left Lane: Dave Richards No Time, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.502/205.44, Was #13
Right Lane: Matt Hagan Runs 3.893/330.15, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.454/195.59, Was #12

Richards is shut off after the burnout when the car won't move forward.

Hagan kept it hooked up and was straight down the groove. He ties Capps E.T. and gets the top spot based on his faster speed. Matt Hagan's incremental times: 60ft-0.861 sec., 330ft-2.224, 660ft-3.152/278.69 mph.

Right Lane: Daniel Wilkerson Runs 6.501/115.41, Now #8; Best prior run: 4.014/314.31, Was #8

Diehl was lined up with Wilkerson, but pulled out of line to focus on tomorrow. Wilkerson loses traction early and clicks it off

Left Lane: Bob Tasca III Runs 6.366/104.40, Now #12; Best prior run: 4.201/247.93, Was #12
Right Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 4.207/223.80, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.615/272.56, Was #14

Tasca started to lose traction right off the line and clicked dit off.

Todd started to haze the tires on the top end and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Chad Green Runs 6.565/97.79, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.110/302.96, Was #10
Right Lane: Austin Prock Runs 5.466/182.97, Now #15; Best prior run: 4.758/229.31, Was #15

Green starts to lose traction right at the hit and clicked it off.

Prock started to lose traction and pedaled it multiple times...
