Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #1

POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, 64th annual NHRA Winternationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Right Lane: Jasmine Salinas Runs 4.270/201.22, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 65 degrees, relative humidity 57 percent, barometer 29.98 inches, adjusted altitude 1,956 feet.

Jasmine Salinas is in the car for her father. This is a planned shut off as she is still getting familiar with the car.

Left Lane: Krista Baldwin Runs 5.608/115.44, Now #2
Right Lane: Terry Totten Runs 6.636/91.56, Now #3

Baldwin bought the Pat Dakin operation over the off season. She starts to lose traction and clicks it off.

Totten is up in smoke right at the hit and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.902/296.05, Now #2
Right Lane: Brittany Force Runs 3.783/330.39, Now #1

Millican started to drop cylinders around half track. He stays with it and it bangs the blower in the lights with a quick fireball. The word is there is oil on the top top end. Clay Millican was charged with an oildown, #2 for the season. That will cost 10 points.

Force launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Brittany Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.839 sec., 330ft-2.137, 660ft-3.046/283.07 mph.

Left Lane: Shawn Reed Runs 6.656/90.36, Now #7
Right Lane: Tony Stewart Runs 4.839/148.95, Now #4

Reed starts to lose traction and clicks it off.

Stewart is up smoke early and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 4.829/149.03, Now #4
Right Lane: Josh Hart Runs 6.118/107.81, Now #7

Schumacher starts to haze the tires and clicks it off.

Hart is up in smoke right at the hit and clicks it off

Left Lane: Justin Ashley Runs 10.560/80.23, Now #11
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 5.677/120.60, Now #7

Ashley is up in smoke right at the hit and clicks it off.

Kalitta starts to lose traction and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.807/322.11, Now #3
Right Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 3.745/330.47, Now #1

This is a good looking side-by-side drag race.

Brown kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go to the number three spot. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.845 sec., 330ft-2.164, 660ft-3.061/284.93 mph.

Torrence launched hard and kept the candles lit all the way down the track to go to the number one spot. Billy Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.828 sec., 330ft-2.124, 660ft-3.013/289.45 mph.

Left Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.750/328.30, Now #2
Right Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.788/318.24, Now #4

Torrence kept it hooked up and the header flames shooting high over the rear win. He goes to the number four spot. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.819 sec., 330ft-2.122, 660ft-3.012/287.60 mph.

Langdon was right there with Torrence until right in the lights when the blower let go with a quick flash of flames. He goes to the number four spot. Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.839 sec., 330ft-2.139, 660ft-3.033/283.43 mph.
