POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, 64th annual NHRA Winternationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Shane Westerfield Runs 5.607/261.42, Now #1
Right Lane: Mike Doushgounian Runs 8.458/105.99, Now #2

Weather conditions: air temperature 67 degrees, relative humidity 54 percent, barometer 30.06 inches, adjusted altitude 2,024 feet.

Westerfield is straight down the groove with a good pass to start the weekend.

Doushgounian makes a quick move toward the wall and clicks it off as he reels it in.

Left Lane: Ray Martin No Time, Now #4
Right Lane: Will Martin No Time, Now #3

Ray Martin breaks on the burnout. The car can't get back to the starting line and is shut off. Ray is out of the car and over the wall.

Will is shut off as he has a fuel leak.

They both will get another chance later today.

Left Lane: Hunter Jones Runs 5.539/262.90, Now #1
Right Lane: Annie Whiteley Runs 5.562/263.46, Now #2

Jones kept it hooked up and straight down the groove with a nice pass. Hunter Jones' incremental times: 60ft-0.958 sec., 330ft-2.490, 660ft-3.676/209.26 mph, 1,000ft-4.685.

Whiteley with a good clean pass, straight down Broadway.

Left Lane: Madison Gordon Runs 10.143/85.47, Now #6
Right Lane: Brian Hough Runs 5.584/263.87, Now #3

Gordon making her National event debut. She is real loose right at the hit and the car is sideways as she clicks it off.

Hough is straight down the groove with a good clean pass. Brian Hough's incremental times: 60ft-0.951 sec., 330ft-2.523, 660ft-3.723/207.94 mph, 1,000ft-4.733.
