Top Alcohol Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Final Session

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, 55th annual NHRA Gatornationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Wayne Morris Runs 9.400/106.67, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.539/254.86, Was #5
Right Lane: Chip Beverett Runs 5.596/259.56, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.640/262.74, Was #8

Weather conditions: air temperature 72 degrees, relative humidity 82 percent, barometer 29.94 inches, adjusted altitude 1,671 feet, track temperature 87 degrees.

Morris shakes and clicks it off.

Beverett is straight down the groove to move up the ladder a couple spots.

Left Lane: Ulf Leanders Runs 5.488/262.95, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.512/261.72, Was #4
Right Lane: Stan Sipos Runs 5.584/248.11, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.639/252.43, Was #8

Leanders kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight make his quickest pass of the weekend, but will stay in the number four spot. Ulf Leanders' incremental times: 60ft-0.940 sec., 330ft-2.447, 660ft-3.626/209.36 mph, 1,000ft-4.634.

Sipos is straight down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend. He moves up the ladder two spots.

Left Lane: Sean Bellemeur Runs 5.441/265.64, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.470/265.17, Was #1
Right Lane: Bob McCosh Runs 5.497/263.36, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.484/265.85, Was #3

Bellemeur launched hard and kept it hooked up to make his quickest pass of the weekend to improve on his number one spot. Sean Bellemeur's incremental times: 60ft-0.931 sec., 330ft-2.433, 660ft-3.601/211.49 mph, 1,000ft-4.596.

McCosh with another good with another good looking pass and will stay in the number three spot. Bob McCosh's incremental times: 60ft-0.949 sec., 330ft-2.464, 660ft-3.643/209.92 mph, 1,000ft-4.645.

Left Lane: Phil Esz Runs 5.499/260.86, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.483/261.72, Was #2
Right Lane: Brian Gawlik Runs 5.611/258.62, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.609/259.86, Was #8

This is the final round from the Baby Gators.

Esz with another good looking pass and will stay in the number two spot. Phil Esz's incremental times: 60ft-0.946 sec., 330ft-2.456, 660ft-3.634/210.14 mph, 1,000ft-4.641.

Gawlik with a clean pass, but will not improve...
