Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Session #2

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, 55th annual NHRA Gatornationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Jim Campbell Runs 4.090/294.24, Now #12; No Prior Run

6:00 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 77 degrees, relative humidity 70 percent, barometer 29.93 inches, adjusted altitude 1,991 feet, track temperature 93 degrees.

Campbell goes down the groove with a decent pass and gets in the show in the 12th spot for now.

Left Lane: Buddy Hull Runs 4.116/304.87, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.252/0.00, Was #15
Right Lane: Dave Richards Runs 8.576/86.66, Now #17; No Prior Run

Hull goes down the groove with a good pass and moves up to the 13th spot for now.

Richards hits the throttle and starts driving toward the centerline. He gets about 150 feet out and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Paul Lee Runs 4.475/196.07, Now #15; Best prior run: 4.206/0.00, Was #15

Lee gets about 500 feet out and the flames go out, not sure why.

Left Lane: Daniel Wilkerson Runs 8.895/85.44, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.051/0.00, Was #9
Right Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 3.897/324.90, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.129/239.82, Was #14

Wilkerson gets about 30 feet out, strikes the tires and backs off of the throttle. Todd goes down the groove with a good pass to move up to the third spot for now.

Left Lane: Blake Alexander Runs 9.433/79.02, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.977/317.94, Was #9
Right Lane: Terry Haddock Runs 3.989/315.86, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.065/295.59, Was #12

Haddock finally does it, his first ever three second run to move up to the tenth spot. Alexander has problems and is off of the throttle early.

Terry Haddock's incremental times: 60ft-0.887 sec., 330ft-2.287, 660ft-3.223/274.78 mph.

Left Lane: John Force Runs 3.920/324.67, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.966/323.12, Was #8
Right Lane: Chad Green Runs 3.887/329.26, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.055/297.88, Was #12

A good side-by-side, both down the groove, header flames high and steady from both cars. Force improves and moves up to the sixth spot. Green improves and goes all the way to the third spot, for now.

John Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.884 sec., 330ft-2.254, 660ft-3.173/279.21 mph.

Chad Green's incremental times: 60ft-0.879 sec., 330ft-2.237, 660ft-3.149/284.21 mph.

Left Lane: Matt Hagan Runs 3.883/331.20, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.942/326.87, Was #8
Right Lane: Alexis DeJoria Runs 3.900/327.74, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.953/328.86, Was #9

Hagan goes down the groove with his quickest pass of the day and moves up to the third spot in the order. DeJoria was drifting left, stayed on the throttle, then crossed the centerline after the 1000 foot timing block. She improves and moves up to the sixth spot.

Matt Hagan's incremental times: 60ft-0.863 sec., 330ft-2.237, 660ft-3.149/285.17 mph.

Alexis DeJoria's incremental times: 60ft-0.884 sec., 330ft-2.256, 660ft-3.164/285.05 mph.

Left Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 3.912/329.58, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.937/313.22, Was #9
Right Lane: Bob Tasca III Runs 3.829/337.75, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.870/336.40, Was #2

Pedregon goes down the groove with a good pass and he moves up a spot to eighth. Tasca makes another impressive pass and takes over the top spot in the order.

Cruz Pedregon's incremental times: 60ft-0.881 sec., 330ft-2.261, 660ft-3.175/282.66 mph.

Bob Tasca III's incremental times: 60ft-0.863 sec., 330ft-2.215, 660ft-3.108/289.07 mph.

Left Lane: Ron Capps Runs 3.871/333.00, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.904/331.85, Was #7
Right Lane: Austin Prock Runs 3.820/334.65, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.869/329.34, Was #2

Capps makes a clean, straight pass and moves up to the third spot. Prock makes an impressive pass and re-takes the top spot from Tasca.

Ron Capps' incremental times: 60ft-0.875 sec., 330ft-2.233, 660ft-3.137/286.38 mph.

Austin Prock's incremental times: 60ft-0.865 sec., 330ft-2.210, 660ft-3.094/289.45 mph.
