Pro Stock Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Session #1

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, 55th annual NHRA Gatornationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Hector Arana Runs 7.230/191.24, Now #2
Right Lane: Richard Gadson Runs 6.886/197.28, Now #1

2:12 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 83 degrees, relative humidity 56 percent, barometer 29.96 inches, adjusted altitude 2,304 feet, track temperature 105 degrees.

Arana makes a move to the right but is able to keep it off of the centerline and make a full pass. Gadson drifted to the left all the way through the run but stayed on the throttle and made a good pass.

Left Lane: Bud Yoder II Runs 7.176/186.43, Now #2
Right Lane: Wesley Wells Runs 7.323/184.62, Now #4

Both riders make full passes but are well off of the pace.

Left Lane: LE Tonglet Runs 6.874/196.33, Now #1

Tonglet was moving around a little early in the run but makes a good pass to take the early pole.

Left Lane: John Hall Runs 6.865/198.73, Now #1
Right Lane: Ryan Oehler Runs 7.051/190.19, Now #4

Hall goes down the groove with a good pass and he moves up to the top of the ladder for now. Oehler makes a full pass but is off of the pace.

John Hall's incremental times: 60ft-1.086 sec., 330ft-2.887, 660ft-4.412/160.61 mph, 1,000ft-5.736.

Left Lane: Chris Bostick Runs 7.105/190.46, Now #5
Right Lane: Kelly Clontz Runs 7.437/186.69, Now #9

Bostick makes a clean pass and gets in the fifth spot for now. Clontz spun a little at the hit, the rear of the bike kicked out to the right and she was never able to make up the lost time.

Left Lane: Chase Van Sant Runs 6.929/195.25, Now #4
Right Lane: Angie Smith No Time, Now #11

Smith hits the throttle and the engine died. Van Sant makes a good pass and gets in the fourth spot for now.

Left Lane: Marc Ingwersen Runs 6.997/193.88, Now #5
Right Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.266/192.99, Now #10

Ingwersen drifted to the right all the way through the run but stays on the throttle and gets in the show in the fifth spot for now. Johnson was a little sluggish off of the line.

Left Lane: Jianna Evaristo Runs 11.708/69.26, Now #14
Right Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.811/199.85, Now #1

Evaristo started drifting to the left at the hit, she gets about 300 feet out and has to back off of the throttle. Smith goes down the groove with a good pass, the quickest pass of the round so far, and he moves up to the top spot in the order.

Matt Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.076 sec., 330ft-2.871, 660ft-4.378/162.82 mph, 1,000ft-5.690.

Left Lane: Hector Arana Jr Runs 9.506/91.66, Now #15
Right Lane: Gaige Herrera Runs 6.774/198.35, Now #1

Arana's engine sounded like it bogged a little at the hit and he clicks it off early. Herrera goes down the groove with an impressive pass and takes the top spot to end this session.

Gaige Herrera's incremental times: 60ft-1.060 sec., 330ft-2.831, 660ft-4.333/162.88 mph, 1,000ft-5.646.
