By Dave Gerard

POMONA, Calif. - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 58th annual In-N-Out NHRA Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Right Lane: Alexis DeJoria Runs 5.594/133.37, Now #19; Best prior run: 5.365/139.91, Was #19

4:36 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 75 degrees, relative humidity 18 percent, barometer 30.00 inches, adjusted altitude 2,324 feet.

Matt Hagan is number one at 3.869 and Alex Laughlin is on the bump spot at 4.040. Strong Top Fuel session should make this an interesting round.

DeJoria comes into Q4 outside the field after only one full pass all weekend.

Once again the track wins, as the GR Supra strikes the tires right off the line.

Left Lane: Jason Rupert Runs 4.173/286.56, Now #18; Best prior run: 4.066/317.42, Was #17
Right Lane: Del Worsham Runs 4.062/312.78, Now #17; Best prior run: 4.198/247.84, Was #18

No joy for either pair.

They leave close together and run down the track to near the finish line together.

Worsham makes his quickest and fastest pass of the weekend to move up just one spot to #17.

Rupert had a good run going until the engine expires BIG TIME after the 660 lights and he has to struggle to bring his Mustang to a safe stop.

Jason Rupert's incremental times: 60ft-0.909 sec., 330ft-2.329, 660ft-3.340/251.91 mph.
Del Worsham's incremental times: 60ft-0.882 sec., 330ft-2.307, 660ft-3.278/265.17 mph.

4:43 p.m. Clean up time.

Left Lane: Alex Laughlin Runs 3.993/320.36, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.040/311.70, Was #16
Right Lane: Terry Haddock Runs 4.157/269.56, Now #15; Best prior run: 4.019/306.95, Was #14

4:49 p.m. Back to qualifying.

Laughlin is on the Bump and can't be pushed out. He finally gets a quick pass and moves up three spots to #13 on a much better pass.

Weirdness on Haddock's engine, as he leaves hard with big flames and suddenly they go way down to just about one foot high. Fuel pump or ?? He will not improve.

Alex Laughlin's incremental times: 60ft-0.899 sec., 330ft-2.298, 660ft-3.236/275.96 mph.

Right Lane: Bobby Bode Runs 8.790/88.87, Now #14; Best prior run: 3.995/283.25, Was #14

Bode makes his second try of the weekend and has issues right off the line and stops on the track.

Left Lane: Blake Alexander Runs 4.044/291.51, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.981/319.52, Was #12
Right Lane: Chad Green Runs 3.893/325.06, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.973/316.38, Was #11

4:52 p.m. Stuff on the track at both ends. It is getting cooler every minute they take getting the job done right. 5:15 p.m. Back to qualifying. Weather conditions: air temperature 71 degrees, relative humidity 22 percent, barometer 30.01 inches, adjusted altitude 2,063 feet, track temperature 81 degrees.

Green is second off the line, but quickly drives by Alexander and powers right on down the track with header flames over the room of his Mustang to move six positions up the ladder to #5 for now.

Alexander ran well to around the 660 lights and then slowed.

Blake Alexander's incremental times: 60ft-0.871 sec., 330ft-2.281, 660ft-3.240/265.06 mph.
Chad Green's incremental times: 60ft-0.873 sec., 330ft-2.243, 660ft-3.148/283.55 mph.

Right Lane: John Force Runs 3.862/328.14, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.967/323.66, Was #11

Force shows big power and runs straight and clean to the finish line with his best run of the weekend by far. He marches ten spots up the ladder to the new top spot!

Wilkerson makes his best run of the weekend too and moves up a spot to #9.

Capps on a single.

Big power for Capps and he moves three spots up the ladder on a clean pass to the #5 spot.

Ron Capps' incremental times: 60ft-0.872 sec., 330ft-2.238, 660ft-3.149/283.25 mph.

Left Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 3.917/318.09, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.904/326.08, Was #8
Right Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 3.865/330.15, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.935/324.67, Was #10

A contract renewal energizes Pedregon and he takes his Charger up eight spots on the ladder to the #2 spot on a great looking pass.

That Pushes Todd back to #9, as he can't quite match his prior bests.

J.R. Todd's incremental times: 60ft-0.878 sec., 330ft-2.237, 660ft-3.163/276.92 mph.
Cruz Pedregon's incremental times: 60ft-0.861 sec., 330ft-2.216, 660ft-3.126/283.49 mph.

Hight is really stong early and keep the tire stuck to capture the final top spot on his best pass of the weekend.

Tasca was right with him until right around the 660 lights, where his Mustang slows.

Bob Tasca III's incremental times: 60ft-0.865 sec., 330ft-2.229, 660ft-3.269/215.00 mph.
Robert Hight's incremental times: 60ft-0.863 sec., 330ft-2.221, 660ft-3.115/287.96 mph.

Right Lane: Matt Hagan Runs 3.963/304.46, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.869/328.46, Was #4

Lee makes another clean pass to stay #5.

Hagan left hard, but the car didn't pick up enough to improve. Right after the finish line, there is fire out from underneath the Charger body and he quickly bring the car to a safe stop on the track.

Paul Lee's incremental times: 60ft-0.858 sec., 330ft-2.221, 660ft-3.130/282.42 mph.
Matt Hagan's incremental times: 60ft-0.867 sec., 330ft-2.237, 660ft-3.173/268.81 mph.

5:34 p.m. Team Force is number one in both TF and FC. Hight runs 6.844 and Jeff Diehl is on the bump spot at 4.025.
