Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #3

POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 58th annual In-N-Out NHRA Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Josh Hart Runs 3.742/329.50, Now #12; Best prior run: 4.873/150.58, Was #16
Right Lane: Spencer Hyde Runs 3.860/269.83, Now #14; Best prior run: 3.921/254.18, Was #13

Weather conditions: air temperature 78 degrees, relative humidity 14 percent, barometer 30.01 inches, adjusted altitude 2,467 feet.

Hart with a good clean pass to get off the bump spot.

Hyde is back after the big engine explosion yesterday...he was on a good pass. He appeared to click it off early.

Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.810/278.46, Now #13; Best prior run: 3.758/306.19, Was #13

Ron August was scheduled to match up with Millican and hs chose to sit out this session.

Millican after the engine explosion yesterday makes a good clean checkout pass.

Left Lane: Dan Mercier Runs 3.747/314.31, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.716/328.14, Was #11
Right Lane: Mike Salinas Runs 3.698/333.33, Now #9; Best prior run: 4.825/148.30, Was #16

Mercier with a good pass until on the top end when it started to mix up cylinders.

Salinas launched hard and kept it hooked up to make his quickest pass this weekend. He goes to the number nine spot. Mike Salinas' incremental times: 60ft-0.834 sec., 330ft-2.105, 660ft-2.973/292.52 mph.

Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 4.378/183.62, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.703/331.20, Was #10
Right Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.748/329.02, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.713/325.37, Was #11

Schumacher starts to haze the tires and clicks it off.

Langdon with a good clean pass, but will not improve.

Left Lane: Brittany Force Runs 4.298/190.11, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.682/328.14, Was #6
Right Lane: Austin Prock Runs 6.820/134.52, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.696/329.34, Was #8

Force is loose right at the hit and all the way down the track, but she stayed with it.

Prock lost traction right at the hit and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Justin Ashley Runs 6.991/82.78, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.682/334.73, Was #5
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 4.235/195.45, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.689/332.02, Was #7

Ashley is up in smoke right at the hit and clicked it off.

Brown started to lose traction around half tack and clicked it off.

Weather conditions: air temperature 78 degrees, relative humidity 14 percent, barometer 30.01 inches, adjusted altitude 2,467 feet, track temperature 105 degrees.

Left Lane: Leah Pruett Runs 3.751/327.51, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.676/332.84, Was #3
Right Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 3.722/329.34, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.682/336.74, Was #4

This was a good side-by-side drag race.

Pruett will not improve, but makes the sixth quickest pass of the session. Leah Pruett's incremental times: 60ft-0.843 sec., 330ft-2.135, 660ft-3.016/290.32 mph.

Billy kept it hooked up all the way down the track with the second quickest pass of the session. He will not improve. Billy Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.837 sec., 330ft-2.120, 660ft-2.994/292.65 mph.

Left Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 6.950/82.13, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.641/335.65, Was #1
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.722/333.00, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.671/336.99, Was #2

Torrence lost traction right at the hit and clicked it off.

Kalitta kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight for the second quickest pass of the session. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.837 sec., 330ft-2.125, 660ft-2.997/292.39 mph.
