Pro Stock Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Session #3

POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 58th annual In-N-Out NHRA Finals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Right Lane: Blaine Hale Runs 15.849/50.74, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.007/191.40, Was #15

12:59 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 76 degrees, relative humidity 15 percent, barometer 30.03 inches, adjusted altitude 2,325 feet, track temperature 80 degrees.

A strong Pro Stock session bodes well for the scooters! Herrera is number one at 6.721 and Angie Smith is on the bump spot at 7.027.

Hale bike bucks and jumps up and down at the launch, so he gets off the throttle way early.


Left Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.810/198.32, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.828/198.38, Was #10
Right Lane: Marc Ingwersen Runs 6.963/197.13, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.793/197.28, Was #7

Smith finds a little ET in the hotter conditions today and moves up a spot to #9.

Ingwersen makes a clean pass. but doesn't improve.

Matt Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.061 sec., 330ft-2.847, 660ft-4.363/161.75 mph, 1,000ft-5.681.
Marc Ingwersen's incremental times: 60ft-1.101 sec., 330ft-2.959, 660ft-4.494/160.14 mph, 1,000ft-5.825.

Left Lane: Lance Bonham Runs 7.135/181.69, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.070/186.77, Was #17
Right Lane: Chris Bostick Runs 21.184/34.63, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.952/193.96, Was #13

Bonham makes a full pass to stay #17.

Bostick is sitting up early and coasting. He is already in the field.

Left Lane: Ryan Oehler Runs 6.962/192.49, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.941/194.38, Was #12
Right Lane: John Hall Runs 6.825/198.47, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.825/196.87, Was #10

Two full passes this time, but no improvements. Hall matches his prior best to the thousandth.

Ryan Oehler's incremental times: 60ft-1.087 sec., 330ft-2.905, 660ft-4.446/158.67 mph, 1,000ft-5.799.
John Hall's incremental times: 60ft-1.069 sec., 330ft-2.866, 660ft-4.380/162.00 mph, 1,000ft-5.697.

Left Lane: LE Tonglet Runs 6.826/199.32, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.832/198.82, Was #11
Right Lane: Jerry Savoie Runs 6.923/193.18, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.797/197.25, Was #8

Tonglet picks up and little and Savoie slows a little on clean passes.

They will stay in their current positions.

Jerry Savoie's incremental times: 60ft-1.066 sec., 330ft-2.885, 660ft-4.421/159.36 mph, 1,000ft-5.767.

Left Lane: Jianna Evaristo Runs 6.922/175.34, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.784/197.77, Was #6
Right Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 6.832/198.55, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.765/197.59, Was #5

Evaristo's Suzuki starts to drift towards the wall down track and she slows.

Johnson loses some ET, but picks up some speed to stay #5.

Jianna Evaristo's incremental times: 60ft-1.065 sec., 330ft-2.864, 660ft-4.383/161.32 mph, 1,000ft-5.714.
Steve Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-1.087 sec., 330ft-2.885, 660ft-4.391/162.74 mph, 1,000ft-5.705.

Left Lane: Kelly Clontz Runs 6.774/199.46, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.751/200.26, Was #4
Right Lane: Hector Arana Jr Runs 6.753/201.85, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.729/201.28, Was #2

Another 201 plus MPH pass for Arana, but be doesn't improve his position.

Clontz slows just a little to stay #4.

After a strong pass, Clontz came off off of her Suzuki way down track. She is awake and alert and talking with the Safety Safari Team.

Kelly Clontz's incremental times: 60ft-1.065 sec., 330ft-2.842, 660ft-4.344/163.14 mph, 1,000ft-5.653.
Hector Arana Jr's incremental times: 60ft-1.069 sec., 330ft-2.843, 660ft-4.338/163.81 mph, 1,000ft-5.641.

1:11 p.m. Time for clean up in the left lane.

Left Lane: Gaige Herrera Runs 6.737/201.97, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.721/200.59, Was #1
Right Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 6.763/201.49, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.742/201.52, Was #3

1:24 p.m. Back to qualifying.

Two straight and clean passes to wrap up the session. They will stay in their current positions with one more session later this afternoon.

Gaige Herrera's incremental times: 60ft-1.047 sec., 330ft-2.830, 660ft-4.325/164.01 mph, 1,000ft-5.627.
Eddie Krawiec's incremental times: 60ft-1.057 sec., 330ft-2.838, 660ft-4.339/163.20 mph, 1,000ft-5.647.

1:26 p.m. Angie Smith is on the bump spot at 7.027.
