POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 58th annual In-N-Out NHRA Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Ron August Runs 3.964/298.73, Now #7; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Mike Salinas Runs 8.176/69.98, Now #11; Best prior run: 4.825/148.30, Was #10

Weather conditions: air temperature 71 degrees, relative humidity 17 percent, barometer 29.98 inches, adjusted altitude 2,057 feet, track temperature 83 degrees.

August didn't make a pass in the earlier session. He kept it hooked up all way down the track to go to the number seven spot. Ron August's incremental times: 60ft-0.904 sec., 330ft-2.248, 660ft-3.177/272.34 mph.

Salinas starts to lose traction early and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Dan Mercier Runs 3.716/328.14, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.899/91.23, Was #16
Right Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.713/325.37, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.509/166.60, Was #10

Mercier launched hard and kept it hooked up to make his career quickest and fastest pass to go to the number two spot. Dan Mercier's incremental times: 60ft-0.846 sec., 330ft-2.110, 660ft-2.981/289.26 mph.

Langdon kept it hooked up all the way down the track to go to the number two spot. Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.836 sec., 330ft-2.109, 660ft-2.980/291.45 mph.

Left Lane: Leah Pruett Runs 3.676/332.84, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.397/102.61, Was #16
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.689/332.02, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.307/186.54, Was #11

Pruett with the candles lit all the way down the track to go to the number one spot. Leah Pruett's incremental times: 60ft-0.830 sec., 330ft-2.100, 660ft-2.956/295.92 mph.

Brown is right there with her to the number two spot. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.835 sec., 330ft-2.101, 660ft-2.962/293.03 mph.

Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.703/331.20, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.386/0.00, Was #16
Right Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 3.682/336.74, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.934/246.80, Was #10

Schumacher kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to get off the bump to the number four spot. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.838 sec., 330ft-2.121, 660ft-2.978/295.46 mph.

Torrence with a big top end speed, his career fastest. He goes to the number two spot. Billy Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.828 sec., 330ft-2.103, 660ft-2.964/295.53 mph.

Left Lane: Josh Hart Runs 5.079/141.34, Now #16; Best prior run: 4.873/150.58, Was #16

Hart starts to lose traction and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Brittany Force Runs 3.682/328.14, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.864/147.92, Was #15

Force launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number four spot. Brittany Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.830 sec., 330ft-2.090, 660ft-2.953/294.63 mph.

Left Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.641/335.65, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.969/237.55, Was #14
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.671/336.99, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.723/330.72, Was #9

This is a great side-by-side drag race.

Torrence launched hard and had the header flames shooting high over the rear wing all the way down the track to go to the number one spot. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.814 sec., 330ft-2.068, 660ft-2.922/296.76 mph.

Kalitta was right there with him with a great pass to the number two spot. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.827 sec., 330ft-2.102, 660ft-2.956/297.68 mph.

Left Lane: Justin Ashley Runs 3.682/334.73, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.724/332.02, Was #11
Right Lane: Austin Prock Runs 3.696/329.34, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.721/328.86, Was #10

Ashley kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go to the number five spot. Justin Ashley's incremental times: 60ft-0.835 sec., 330ft-2.110, 660ft-2.962/296.63 mph.

Prock was straight down the groove with a good looking pass to go to the number eight spot. Austin Prock's incremental times: 60ft-0.828 sec., 330ft-2.107, 660ft-2.968/294.56 mph.
