POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 58th annual In-N-Out NHRA Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Spencer Hyde Runs 3.921/254.18, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 72 degrees, relative humidity 15 percent, barometer 30.00 inches, adjusted altitude 2,104 feet.

Hyde is making his Top Fuel debut, moving up from Pro Mod. He launches and was on a good pass early until it dropped a cylinder. The engine then let go with a huge fire ball. He still gets a good time. Spencer Hyde's incremental times: 60ft-0.842 sec., 330ft-2.144, 660ft-3.058/277.03 mph.

Left Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 3.934/246.80, Now #2
Right Lane: Dan Mercier Runs 6.899/91.23, Now #3

Torrence was a good looking pass early and started to haze the tires on the top end and clicks it off. Billy Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.830 sec., 330ft-2.123, 660ft-3.044/264.23 mph.

Mercier started to lose traction early and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 4.509/166.60, Now #3
Right Lane: Josh Hart Runs 4.873/150.58, Now #4

Langdon with a whiff of tire smoke and clicks it off.

Hart starts to lose traction early and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.758/306.19, Now #1
Right Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 6.386/0.00, Now #6

Millican launched hard and was on a great pass until right in the lights when he banged the blower. Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.846 sec., 330ft-2.131, 660ft-3.011/288.83 mph.

Schumacher lost traction early and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Austin Prock Runs 3.721/328.86, Now #1
Right Lane: Brittany Force Runs 4.864/147.92, Now #6

Prock launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Austin Prock's incremental times: 60ft-0.834 sec., 330ft-2.110, 660ft-2.986/290.13 mph.

Force drives into tire smoke around half track.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 4.307/186.54, Now #6
Right Lane: Justin Ashley Runs 3.724/332.02, Now #2

Brown started to haze the tires just pass half track and clicked it off.

Ashley was straight down the groove, hitting on all eight to go to the number two spot. Justin Ashley's incremental times: 60ft-0.840 sec., 330ft-2.130, 660ft-2.998/293.41 mph.

Left Lane: Mike Salinas Runs 4.825/148.30, Now #8
Right Lane: Leah Pruett Runs 6.397/102.61, Now #12

Salinas started to lose traction and clicked it off.

Pruett is up smoke early and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.723/330.72, Now #2
Right Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.969/237.55, Now #7

Kalitta launched hard and kept it hitting on all eight and hooked up to go to the number two spot. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.837 sec., 330ft-2.124, 660ft-2.995/292.33 mph.

Torrence started to haze the tires on the top end and clicked it off.
