Top Alcohol Dragster Qualifying Notes, Session #1

LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Pacific Division, event at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Baruc Llamas Runs 5.320/261.32, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 71 degrees, relative humidity 15 percent, barometer 30.07 inches, adjusted altitude 3,105 feet.

Llamas is making his competition debut...he got his license earlier this week. He is driving the Rich McPhillips team car. He is straight down the groove with a really good looking pass.

Baruc Llamas' incremental times: 60ft-0.950 sec., 330ft-2.422, 660ft-3.527/225.26 mph, 1,000ft-4.479.

Left Lane: Braiden Chesleigh Runs 5.402/267.80, Now #2
Right Lane: Shaunda Blinzler No Time, Now #3

Chesleigh making his NHRA Top alcohol dragster debut. He makes a good clean pass. Braiden Chesleigh's incremental times: 60ft-0.950 sec., 330ft-2.456, 660ft-3.596/218.90 mph, 1,000ft-4.567.

Blinzler pitches the blower belt right st the hit.

Left Lane: Angelle Sampey Runs 5.246/276.46, Now #1
Right Lane: Rich McPhillips Jr. Runs 5.248/274.89, Now #2

This is a good looking side-by-side drag race.

Sampey kept it hooked up and is straight down the groove. Angelle Sampey's incremental times: 60ft-0.945 sec., 330ft-2.409, 660ft-3.503/228.23 mph, 1,000ft-4.439.

McPhillips is right there with her with a good looking pass. Rich McPhillips Jr.'s incremental times: 60ft-0.931 sec., 330ft-2.398, 660ft-3.503/226.66 mph, 1,000ft-4.439.

Left Lane: Johnny Ahten Runs 5.525/262.28, Now #6
Right Lane: Summer Richardson Runs 5.279/274.66, Now #3

Ahten has a hole out right at hit and never picks it up.

Richardson kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight with nice pass. Summer Richardson's incremental times: 60ft-0.946 sec., 330ft-2.427, 660ft-3.537/226.51 mph, 1,000ft-4.471.

Left Lane: Mitch Myers Runs 5.473/265.53, Now #6
Right Lane: James Stevens Runs 7.860/130.57, Now #8

Myers with a good pass, straight down the groove.

Steven started to lose traction and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Bob Button Runs 5.391/264.03, Now #6
Right Lane: Casey Grisel Runs 5.386/273.27, Now #5

This was a good side-by-side drag race.

Button is straight down the groove with his career quickest pass to get in the show. Bob Button's incremental times: 60ft-0.918 sec., 330ft-2.376, 660ft-3.539/212.43 mph, 1,000ft-4.540.

Grisel is straight down the groove with a nice pass. Casey Grisel's incremental times: 60ft-0.970 sec., 330ft-2.495, 660ft-3.619/222.51 mph, 1,000ft-4.570.

Left Lane: Kim Parker Runs 5.343/266.37, Now #5
Right Lane: Taylor Vetter Runs 9.747/116.38, Now #12

Parker kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to get in the show. Kim Parker's incremental times: 60ft-0.975 sec., 330ft-2.433, 660ft-3.550/222.55 mph, 1,000ft-4.509.

Vetter overpowered the track and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Madison Payne Runs 5.385/250.55, Now #7
Right Lane: Joey Severance Runs 5.266/272.01, Now #3

Payne was on a good pass until on the top end when it started to drop cylinders. She still gets in the show. Madison Payne's incremental times: 60ft-0.924 sec., 330ft-2.387, 660ft-3.511/218.72 mph, 1,000ft-4.507.

Severance launched hard and kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go to the number three spot. Joey Severance's incremental times: 60ft-0.893 sec., 330ft-2.340, 660ft-3.471/219.51 mph, 1,000ft-4.441.

Left Lane: Jackie Fricke Runs 5.185/277.72, Now #1
Right Lane: Shawn Cowie Runs 5.203/277.89, Now #2

Fricke launched hard and kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go to the number one spot. Jackie Fricke's incremental times: 60ft-0.918 sec., 330ft-2.368, 660ft-3.456/229.08 mph, 1,000ft-4.383.

Cowie was right there with her with a great pass to go to the number two spot. Shawn Cowie's incremental times: 60ft-0.920 sec., 330ft-2.340, 660ft-3.447/223.17 mph, 1,000ft-4.396.
