POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 57th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Hector Arana Jr Runs 6.977/196.87, Now #11; Best prior run: 8.129/115.55, Was #13
Right Lane: Marc Ingwersen Runs 6.828/195.00, Now #6; No Prior Run

3:13 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 66 degrees, relative humidity 20 percent, barometer 30.00 inches, adjusted altitude 1,760 feet, track temperature 88 degrees.

Angel Sampey is number one at 6.703 and Eddie Krawiec is on the bump spot.

Ingwersen didn't run in the first session and makes up for it with a strong and straight trip to the top eight in #6.

Arana gets a full pass this time and moves up two spots to #11.


Left Lane: Kelly Clontz Runs 6.885/192.91, Now #8; Best prior run: 7.233/191.78, Was #14
Right Lane: Freddie Camarena Runs 6.953/194.35, Now #10; No Prior Run

Camarena makes a full pass this time and will bump into the field in #10.

Clontz joins the Big Improvement group and gets a full pass up to the #8 spot.

Kelly Clontz's incremental times: 60ft-1.068 sec., 330ft-2.852, 660ft-4.380/159.49 mph, 1,000ft-5.727.
Freddie Camarena's incremental times: 60ft-1.113 sec., 330ft-2.916, 660ft-4.451/159.32 mph, 1,000ft-5.799.

Left Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.338/189.34, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.111/189.58, Was #15
Right Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 7.263/196.47, Now #16; No Prior Run

Krawiec fixed his engine issues and makes a pass to the bump spot.

No joy for Phillips.

Left Lane: Gaige Herrera Runs 6.871/193.85, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.965/191.78, Was #11
Right Lane: Joey Gladstone Runs 7.568/134.35, Now #17; Best prior run: 17.350/39.41, Was #18

Gladstone's bike sounded like it would not shift down track.

Herrera moves up to the top half of the field.

Left Lane: Ryan Oehler Runs 6.877/196.56, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.927/194.27, Was #10
Right Lane: Jianna Evaristo Runs 9.398/93.99, Now #18; Best prior run: 16.189/39.74, Was #18

Eddie Krawiec is on the bump spot at 7.263.

Evaristo continues to struggle and does't improve.

Oehler moves up one spot.

Ryan Oehler's incremental times: 60ft-1.095 sec., 330ft-2.885, 660ft-4.405/160.59 mph, 1,000ft-5.736.

Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 6.854/195.19, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.840/192.93, Was #7
Right Lane: Katie Justice Runs 7.442/132.66, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.107/190.51, Was #14

Johnson runs a little faster , but does not improve. He has problems stopping and just stops right at the beginning of the sand trap. The bike is locked up and will have to be dragged away.

Justice has smoke from the engine down track and slows.

Steve Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-1.051 sec., 330ft-2.846, 660ft-4.373/160.18 mph, 1,000ft-5.709.

Left Lane: Jerry Savoie Runs 6.797/198.26, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.802/197.59, Was #4
Right Lane: Chris Bostick Runs 16.328/40.99, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.965/190.43, Was #12

Two strong leaves, but Bostick is off the throttle and coasting before the 330 lights.

Savoie makes a clean pass with just a little better ET and speed to stay #4.

Jerry Savoie's incremental times: 60ft-1.057 sec., 330ft-2.839, 660ft-4.349/162.22 mph, 1,000ft-5.668.

Left Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.719/202.70, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.764/202.12, Was #3
Right Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 6.815/197.51, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.825/195.90, Was #5

Another strong pass for Smith to reset the track speed record from session one. He will stay #2 for now,

Stoffer makes her beat pass too to stay #5.

Matt Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.059 sec., 330ft-2.838, 660ft-4.325/165.11 mph, 1,000ft-5.616.
Karen Stoffer's incremental times: 60ft-1.064 sec., 330ft-2.849, 660ft-4.364/161.96 mph, 1,000ft-5.684.

Left Lane: Angelle Sampey Runs 6.723/199.46, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.703/201.61, Was #1
Right Lane: Angie Smith Runs 6.744/201.97, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.747/201.79, Was #3

Two ladies come to the line to finish the session.

Sampey set the track ET record earlier and runs strong to the finish, but doesn't improve on her ET or speed to stay #1 for today.

Smith runs strong and does improve on her ET and speed, but will still stay #3.

Angelle Sampey's incremental times: 60ft-1.041 sec., 330ft-2.798, 660ft-4.291/163.55 mph, 1,000ft-5.601.
Angie Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.073 sec., 330ft-2.850, 660ft-4.339/165.11 mph, 1,000ft-5.635.

3:36 p.m. Eddie Krawiec is on the bump spot at 7.263.
