LAS VEGAS - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 22nd annual NHRA Nevada Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Right Lane: Jason Rupert No Time, Now #17; Best prior run: 4.192/297.09, Was #17

4:50 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 75 degrees, relative humidity 7 percent, barometer 30.04 inches, adjusted altitude 3,305 feet, track temperature 103 degrees.

Robert HIght is number one at 3.857 and Jeff Arend is on the bump spot at 4.137.

Rupert does his burnout and backs up behind the starting line. The engine RPM's start to climb and then cycles up and down a bunch of times before it finally goes silent. The crew pushes the Mustang back. Sad...

There is "stuff" on the track from his burn out and the dusting and cleaning is started

5:04 p.m. The next pair is called to start their engines.

Arend's crew pushes the car away and he won't qualify.

Haddock leaves hard and clicks it early to just bump into the field.

Bode finds some tune up and makes a nice pass up a spot to the number thirteen spot.

Left Lane: Steven Densham Runs 4.552/184.25, Now #15; Best prior run: 4.040/306.60, Was #15
Right Lane: Jim Campbell Runs 3.944/298.54, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.962/319.45, Was #14

Densham's crew was able to get another Mustang body here for the last session. He leaves hard, but is off the throttle down track. w Campbell makes his best season's ET and moves up the ladder three positions to number eleven.

Steven Densham's incremental times: 60ft-0.884 sec., 330ft-2.300, 660ft-3.365/209.79 mph.
Jim Campbell's incremental times: 60ft-0.884 sec., 330ft-2.248, 660ft-3.171/276.92 mph.

Left Lane: Blake Alexander Runs 6.055/110.06, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.944/288.89, Was #12
Right Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 5.085/146.10, Now #13; Best prior run: 3.945/318.77, Was #13

No joy here, as both Funny cars are up in smoke before the 660 lights.

Right Lane: Paul Lee Runs 4.110/242.98, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.933/321.35, Was #9

Green shake the tires loose first, near the 660 lights.

Lee gets a little further before he has to give it up too.

Neither will improve.

Right Lane: Alexis DeJoria Runs 3.917/327.03, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.919/328.78, Was #8

Much better! Two strong passes, but neither will improve.

DeJoria gets really close to the center line right before the finish line. She crosses over after and it will cost her 1 points.

Tim Wilkerson's incremental times: 60ft-0.918 sec., 330ft-2.333, 660ft-3.278/273.16 mph.
Alexis DeJoria's incremental times: 60ft-0.888 sec., 330ft-2.262, 660ft-3.176/282.54 mph.

Left Lane: John Force Runs 3.873/324.28, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.889/329.18, Was #5
Right Lane: Matt Hagan Runs 3.862/330.23, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.898/333.25, Was #6

Another great pair of passes with Hagan getting the best of it.

He leaves first and powers down the track right up to the current number to spot.

Force was chasing hard and ran a better ET, but will stay #5.

John Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.863 sec., 330ft-2.228, 660ft-3.131/285.71 mph.
Matt Hagan's incremental times: 60ft-0.858 sec., 330ft-2.220, 660ft-3.126/286.50 mph.

Left Lane: Ron Capps Runs 3.908/295.40, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.889/332.59, Was #6
Right Lane: Bob Tasca III Runs 3.872/330.96, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.865/330.80, Was #3

Tasca leaves first and stays out in front all the way to the finish line. He runs a little faster, but will stay #3.

Capps had a strong pass going, but right near the 1000 foot lights, his Supra drifts over to the all and he clicks it off early to save the shiny.

Ron Capps' incremental times: 60ft-0.870 sec., 330ft-2.241, 660ft-3.141/286.50 mph.
Bob Tasca III's incremental times: 60ft-0.868 sec., 330ft-2.231, 660ft-3.136/285.53 mph.

Left Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 3.913/328.54, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.870/333.33, Was #4
Right Lane: Robert Hight Runs 3.865/332.67, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.857/331.77, Was #1

They leave just 0.006 apart and run together to the finish line.

Hight makes hs fastest pass of the weekend to keep the top spot. This is his 6th number one qualifier of the season and his 77th of his career.

Todd runs hard and will stay #4 on a strong pass.

Robert Hight's incremental times: 60ft-0.871 sec., 330ft-2.237, 660ft-3.133/286.80 mph.
