Competition Eliminator Qualifying Notes, Final Session

MADISON, Ill. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Competition Eliminator at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 11th annual NHRA Midwest Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed this round, amount over/under index this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time, speed & over/under Index, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Sean Dodd Runs 7.998/167.03/-0.702, Now #2; C/EA Index: 8.70, Prior Best: 8.018/167.84/-0.682, Was #3
Right Lane: Jason Grima Runs 6.946/197.22/-0.694, Now #4; B/A Index: 7.64, Prior Best: 7.007/195.85/-0.633, Was #13

10:41 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 61 degrees, relative humidity 55 percent, barometer 30.17 inches, adjusted altitude 609 feet.

Dodd makes his quickest pass of the weekend and he moves up to the second spot for now. Grima improves and moves up to the fourth spot.

Right Lane: Doug Engels Runs 7.323/179.90/-0.587, Now #16; D/ED Index: 7.91, Prior Best: 7.289/180.62/-0.621, Was #16

Galbraith is off of the throttle early. Engels makes decent pass but doesn't improve and stays in the 16th spot.

Left Lane: Travis Gusso Runs 8.272/163.51/-0.668, Now #5; G/A Index: 8.94, Prior Best: 8.352/162.82/-0.588, Was #18
Right Lane: Jim Greenheck Runs 7.635/174.32/-0.625, Now #14; E/AA Index: 8.26, Prior Best: 7.626/174.05/-0.634, Was #13

Gusso makes his quickest pass of the weekend and moves up to the fifth spot for now. Greenheck slows and will drop a spot as Gusso goes around him.

Neither driver improves from there earlier runs.

Smith has problems and is off of the throttle early.Bailey is off of the throttle about 1000 feet out.

Hickey broke and did not make a pass.

Chamness makes a good pass but doesn't improve. No help for Robison and he stays in the ninth spot.

Neff is off of the throttle around half track, not sure why. Wilson makes his quickest pass of the weekend and he moves up to the 18th spot.

Left Lane: Todd Frantz No Time, Now #12; F/SMA Index: 9.25, Prior Best: 8.601/154.67/-0.649, Was #12
Right Lane: Jeff Connelly Runs 6.390/232.67/-0.240, Now #23; AA/PM Index: 6.63, Prior Best: 6.404/226.09/-0.226, Was #23

Frantz leaves before the tree comes down and did not receive a time. Connelly improves but not enough to move up in the order.

Left Lane: Jeff Taylor Runs 6.936/198.76/-0.684, Now #5; B/AA Index: 7.62, Prior Best: 6.959/197.48/-0.661, Was #7
Right Lane: Craig Bourgeois Runs 6.828/189.39/-0.592, Now #20; A/ND Index: 7.42, Prior Best: 7.843/126.32/0.423, Was #24

Taylor improves and he moves up to the fifth spot. Bourgeois is off of the throttle early.

Kamplain improves but stays in the 23rd spot. Williams runs 6.835 for the third time.

Hickey improves but stays in the 21st spot.
