Pro Stock Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Final Session

POMONA, Calif. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 56th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Angie Smith Runs 6.931/195.28, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.234/146.72, Was #12
Right Lane: Kelly Clontz Runs 7.013/192.22, Now #11; Best prior run: 7.160/188.70, Was #11

3:45 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 86 degrees, relative humidity 17 percent, barometer 30.01 inches, adjusted altitude 3,111 feet, track temperature 109 degrees.

Matt Smith number one at 6.779. Field not filled, no bump spot.

Smith finally gets a full pass and moves up the ladder to the top half of the field and the #7 position.

Clontz has the best pass of the weekend to stay #11, but there is smoke from the engine in the lights.

Angie Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.092 sec., 330ft-2.909, 660ft-4.440/159.55 mph, 1,000ft-5.785.
Kelly Clontz's incremental times: 60ft-1.122 sec., 330ft-2.946, 660ft-4.493/157.87 mph, 1,000ft-5.848.


Left Lane: Ryan Oehler Runs 7.823/127.70, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.985/194.16, Was #10
Right Lane: Scotty Pollacheck Runs 6.849/185.03, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.031/162.96, Was #12

Oehler's bike drives towards the centerline and he rides close to it before clicking it early.

Great pass for Pollacheck to move six spots up the ladder into the sixes, the top half of the field, and the #6 position.

Scotty Pollacheck's incremental times: 60ft-1.065 sec., 330ft-2.861, 660ft-4.374/162.37 mph, 1,000ft-5.692.

Left Lane: Chris Bostick Runs 6.943/192.91, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.973/194.63, Was #10
Right Lane: Freddie Camarena Runs 6.944/194.46, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.935/195.28, Was #9

Bostick runs a tad quicker and Camarena runs a tad slower. They stay in their current positions.

Chris Bostick's incremental times: 60ft-1.073 sec., 330ft-2.891, 660ft-4.440/158.26 mph, 1,000ft-5.789.
Freddie Camarena's incremental times: 60ft-1.095 sec., 330ft-2.901, 660ft-4.442/158.35 mph, 1,000ft-5.790.

Left Lane: Angelle Sampey Runs 10.856/81.25, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.819/196.76, Was #5
Right Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 6.902/199.02, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.906/196.82, Was #7

They leave close together, but Sampey is off the throttle and coasting before the 330 lights.

Hines picks up just a little to remain #7.

Andrew Hines' incremental times: 60ft-1.112 sec., 330ft-2.930, 660ft-4.451/161.27 mph, 1,000ft-5.773.

Left Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 6.751/199.11, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.785/197.97, Was #2
Right Lane: Steve Johnson No Time, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.811/197.39, Was #4

Johnson's bike spins the tires at the hit and crosses the center line to DQ the run. That will cost him 15 valuable points!!

Stoffer flies on down the track and into the new top spot on a clean and straight pass.

Karen Stoffer's incremental times: 60ft-1.049 sec., 330ft-2.818, 660ft-4.317/163.35 mph, 1,000ft-5.628.

Left Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.778/201.25, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.779/201.19, Was #2
Right Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 6.880/198.61, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.810/199.55, Was #3

Smith runs another 201 MPH pass and is 0.001 quicker, but will stay #2!

Krawiec makes a clean pass. but will stay in the third spot.

Matt Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.060 sec., 330ft-2.854, 660ft-4.358/163.06 mph, 1,000ft-5.664.
Eddie Krawiec's incremental times: 60ft-1.125 sec., 330ft-2.923, 660ft-4.436/161.81 mph, 1,000ft-5.753.

This is Karen Stoffer's #1 spot of the year and the 5th of her career!
