POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 56th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Kelly Clontz Runs 7.160/188.70, Now #10; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Angie Smith Runs 7.234/146.72, Now #11; Best prior run: 9.665/88.80, Was #11

11:53 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 85 degrees, relative humidity 17 percent, barometer 30.07 inches, adjusted altitude 2,959 feet, track temperature 106 degrees.

Matt Smith is number one at 6.779. Field not filled, no bump spot.

Smith leaves hard and is sitting up early down track.

Clontz gets a full pass this time to put a number up on the scoreboard. #10 for now.

Kelly Clontz's incremental times: 60ft-1.144 sec., 330ft-3.050, 660ft-4.617/156.28 mph, 1,000ft-5.985.
Angie Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.079 sec., 330ft-2.878, 660ft-4.394/161.56 mph, 1,000ft-5.793.


Left Lane: Scotty Pollacheck Runs 7.031/162.96, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.330/138.02, Was #12
Right Lane: Ryan Oehler Runs 6.985/194.16, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.019/193.77, Was #9

Two clean passes and both bikes run better times.

Pollacheck moves up two spot and Oehler stays #9.

Scotty Pollacheck's incremental times: 60ft-1.082 sec., 330ft-2.891, 660ft-4.415/160.79 mph, 1,000ft-5.749.
Ryan Oehler's incremental times: 60ft-1.095 sec., 330ft-2.928, 660ft-4.479/157.74 mph, 1,000ft-5.830.

Left Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 6.810/199.55, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.949/196.53, Was #7
Right Lane: Chris Bostick Runs 11.182/73.93, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.973/194.63, Was #8

Bostick is off the throttle early and coasting.

Krawiec makes a big move up the ladder to the current #3 position.

Eddie Krawiec's incremental times: 60ft-1.066 sec., 330ft-2.853, 660ft-4.366/161.71 mph, 1,000ft-5.684.

Left Lane: Freddie Camarena Runs 6.939/195.70, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.935/195.28, Was #7
Right Lane: Angelle Sampey Runs 6.839/197.77, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.819/196.76, Was #5

Sampey is just a tad off of yesterday's pace to stay #5.

Camarena is just 0.004 off of his times from yesterday with a little better speed.

Freddie Camarena's incremental times: 60ft-1.100 sec., 330ft-2.911, 660ft-4.446/159.17 mph, 1,000ft-5.792.
Angelle Sampey's incremental times: 60ft-1.077 sec., 330ft-2.887, 660ft-4.396/162.57 mph, 1,000ft-5.710.

Left Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 6.925/197.68, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.906/196.82, Was #6
Right Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 10.264/78.63, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.785/197.97, Was #2

Stoffer has better incrementals until after the 30 foot light and then is off the throttle.

Clean and straight pass for Hines to stay #6.

Andrew Hines' incremental times: 60ft-1.110 sec., 330ft-2.932, 660ft-4.460/160.23 mph, 1,000ft-5.790.

Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 6.865/197.25, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.811/197.39, Was #4
Right Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.801/201.64, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.779/201.19, Was #1

Smith confirmed to CompetitionPlus.com earlier this week, that in 2022, Jianna Salinas and Jimmy Underdahl would join the multi-time championship-winning team Matt Smith Racing. They will continue to run their Suzuki program. Two strong passes but neither rider will improve.

A better 201.64 speed for Smith.

Steve Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-1.075 sec., 330ft-2.873, 660ft-4.398/160.58 mph, 1,000ft-5.728.
Matt Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.067 sec., 330ft-2.874, 660ft-4.380/162.94 mph, 1,000ft-5.687.
