Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #1

POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 56th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Right Lane: Brandon Welch Runs 4.766/167.66, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 85 degrees, relative humidity 19 percent, barometer 30.03 inches, adjusted altitude 3,024 feet.

Welch was on a good pass until just before half track when it pushed out a head gasket.

Right Lane: Cameron Ferre Runs 3.880/299.66, Now #1

Ferre kept it hooked up all the way down the track to make a good looking pass. Cameron Ferre's incremental times: 60ft-0.834 sec., 330ft-2.163, 660ft-3.090/273.83 mph.

Left Lane: Tripp Tatum Runs 3.752/306.67, Now #1
Right Lane: Alex Laughlin Runs 3.759/324.83, Now #2

This is a good side-by-side drag race.

Tatum kept it hooked up with a real nice pass. Tripp Tatum's incremental times: 60ft-0.836 sec., 330ft-2.135, 660ft-3.004/290.44 mph.

Laughlin launched hard and kept it hooked up to make his career quickest and fastest pass to go to the number two spot. Alex Laughlin's incremental times: 60ft-0.841 sec., 330ft-2.136, 660ft-3.017/287.41 mph.

Left Lane: Buddy Hull Runs 6.274/98.66, Now #6
Right Lane: Josh Hart Runs 5.107/135.48, Now #5

Hull started to lose traction early and clicked it off.

Hart started to haze the tires and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.759/321.65, Now #4
Right Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.747/324.05, Now #1

This was a good drag race between the teammates.

Kalitta kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go to the number four spot. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.836 sec., 330ft-2.147, 660ft-3.019/291.07 mph.

Langdon kept the candles lit all the way down track to go to the number one spot. Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.836 sec., 330ft-2.136, 660ft-3.009/290.57 mph.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.719/329.26, Now #1
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.756/321.12, Now #4

Brown launched hard and was straight down the groove to the number one spot with a good looking pass. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.834 sec., 330ft-2.114, 660ft-2.986/291.01 mph.

Millican with a good clean pass to go to the number four spot. Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.834 sec., 330ft-2.120, 660ft-3.009/284.45 mph.

Left Lane: Leah Pruett Runs 4.954/145.83, Now #10
Right Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 3.713/330.47, Now #1

Pruett started to lose traction early and clicked it off.

Torrence with a great pass, kept it hitting on all eight all the way down the track to the number one spot. Billy Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.831 sec., 330ft-2.110, 660ft-2.983/290.82 mph.

Left Lane: Justin Ashley Runs 6.384/104.60, Now #14
Right Lane: Mike Salinas Runs 3.694/328.78, Now #1

Ashley starts to smoke the tires early and clicked it off.

Salinas with the header flames shooting high over the rear wing all the way down the track to go to the number one spot. Mike Salinas' incremental times: 60ft-0.835 sec., 330ft-2.097, 660ft-2.963/292.33 mph.

Left Lane: Brittany Force Runs 4.446/172.87, Now #11
Right Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.698/317.05, Now #2

Force started to loose traction and clicked it off.

Torrence launched hard and was on a great looking pass until just past half track when it appeared the engine started to eat itself up. He still goes to the number two spot. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.818 sec., 330ft-2.082, 660ft-2.951/289.82 mph.
