POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 56th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Freddie Camarena Runs 6.935/195.28, Now #1
Right Lane: Chris Bostick Runs 6.973/194.63, Now #2

3:18 p.m. WWeather conditions: air temperature 88 degrees, relative humidity 17 percent, barometer 30.02 inches, adjusted altitude 3,216 feet, track temperature 103 degrees.


Best run of the season for Camarena to set a number for the field to beat.

Bostick's bike was a little loose down low and he still completes the pass.

Freddie Camarena's incremental times: 60ft-1.107 sec., 330ft-2.917, 660ft-4.450/159.87 mph, 1,000ft-5.789.
Chris Bostick's incremental times: 60ft-1.082 sec., 330ft-2.931, 660ft-4.476/158.76 mph, 1,000ft-5.820.


Left Lane: Kelly Clontz No Time, Now #4
Right Lane: Ryan Oehler Runs 7.019/193.77, Now #3

Clot bike was not happy after a strong leave and stops on the track.

Oehler makes a clean pass.

Left Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 6.906/196.82, Now #1
Right Lane: Angie Smith Runs 9.665/88.80, Now #5

Smith sits in the lights for a while, then has a good leave. She is sitting up and coasting after the 30 lights.

Vance and Hines revealed a new tribute to the military wrap for all of the team bikes before the beginning of the session Look great!

He makes a clean pass to the new top spot.

Left Lane: Scotty Pollacheck Runs 7.330/138.02, Now #6
Right Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 6.785/197.97, Now #1

Stoffer makes a great pass to move the top spot up a bunch.

Pollacheck was coasting before half track.

Karen Stoffer's incremental times: 60ft-1.058 sec., 330ft-2.836, 660ft-4.339/162.63 mph, 1,000ft-5.654.

Left Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 6.949/196.53, Now #5
Right Lane: Angelle Sampey Runs 6.819/196.76, Now #2

Two bikes to the finish line under power this time.

Sampey gets the best of it to go to #2.

Eddie Krawiec's incremental times: 60ft-1.123 sec., 330ft-2.950, 660ft-4.475/160.44 mph, 1,000ft-5.807.
Angelle Sampey's incremental times: 60ft-1.062 sec., 330ft-2.851, 660ft-4.360/162.67 mph, 1,000ft-5.681.

Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 6.811/197.39, Now #3
Right Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.779/201.19, Now #1

Johnson has better numbers to half track, then Smith has the power advantage to take the final top spot for today!

Matt Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.059 sec., 330ft-2.844, 660ft-4.351/162.70 mph, 1,000ft-5.662.
