POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 56th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Right Lane: Eric Chesleigh Runs 5.406/254.81, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 85 degrees, relative humidity 20 percent, barometer 30.02 inches, adjusted altitude 3,029 feet.

Chesleigh making his first NHRA National event appearance in Top Alcohol Dragster.

Chesleigh is straight down the groove with a good clean pass.

Left Lane: Taylor Vetter Runs 14.724/75.26, Now #2
Right Lane: Trevor Larkin No Time, Now #3

Vetter is up in smoke right at the hit and clicked it off.

Larkin shut off after the burnout.

Left Lane: Johnny Ahten Runs 14.803/62.58, Now #4
Right Lane: Garrett Bateman Runs 5.476/272.01, Now #2

Ahten is up in smoke right at the hit and clicks it off.

Bateman kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight for clean pass.

Left Lane: Madison Payne Runs 7.739/111.13, Now #4
Right Lane: Dan Mercier Runs 5.260/272.17, Now #1

Payne started to drift out of the groove and mix up cylinders before she clicked it off.

Mercier launched hard and was straight down the groove with a good looking pass. Dan Mercier's incremental times: 60ft-0.935 sec., 330ft-2.402, 660ft-3.499/226.81 mph, 1,000ft-4.442.

Left Lane: Kim Parker Runs 8.724/136.95, Now #6
Right Lane: Chris Demke Runs 5.499/268.81, Now #4

Parker was up in smoke early and she clicked it off.

Demke started to lose traction before half track and he pedaled it. He got it to hook up enough to go to the number four spot. Chris Demke's incremental times: 60ft-0.955 sec., 330ft-2.479, 660ft-3.660/211.10 mph, 1,000ft-4.659.

Left Lane: Casey Grisel Runs 9.052/93.20, Now #8
Right Lane: Mitch Myers Runs 5.400/266.69, Now #2

Grisel won the West Regional last Sunday in Las Vegas. He started to drift out of the groove toward the wall before he clicked it off.

Myers is straight down the groove with a good clean pass. Mitch Myers' incremental times: 60ft-0.947 sec., 330ft-2.453, 660ft-3.594/219.29 mph, 1,000ft-4.563.

Left Lane: Rich McPhillips Jr. Runs 5.476/269.35, Now #6
Right Lane: James Stevens Runs 5.268/273.88, Now #2

McPhillips Jr. started to drift out of the groove and clicked it off.

Stevens kept it hitting on all eight and hooked up to go to the number two spot. James Stevens' incremental times: 60ft-0.909 sec., 330ft-2.347, 660ft-3.475/218.94 mph, 1,000ft-4.445.

Left Lane: Jasmine Salinas Runs 8.208/98.85, Now #10
Right Lane: Julie Nataas Runs 5.232/274.72, Now #1

Salinas starts to loose traction and clicks it off.

Nataas launched hard and kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go to the number one spot. Julie Nataas' incremental times: 60ft-0.893 sec., 330ft-2.329, 660ft-3.478/222.73 mph, 1,000ft-4.421.

Left Lane: Shawn Cowie Runs 5.261/277.89, Now #4
Right Lane: Jackie Fricke Runs 5.245/277.94, Now #2

This is a great side-by-side drag race to wrap up day one of qualifying.

Cowie goes to the number four spot with a good looking pass. Shawn Cowie's incremental times: 60ft-0.925 sec., 330ft-2.378, 660ft-3.499/221.27 mph, 1,000ft-4.452.

Fricke had it hitting on all eight to go to the number two spot. Jackie Fricke's incremental times: 60ft-0.937 sec., 330ft-2.418, 660ft-3.515/229.43 mph, 1,000ft-4.443.
