Funny Car Round 3 Eliminations
By Dave Rowe

MADISON, Ill. - Results of round 3 eliminations in Funny Car at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 10th annual NHRA Midwest Nationals:

 Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed
723 John Force 5 Bob Tasca III

E1 (R Hight ) 0.058 3.970 316.30 (A DeJoria ) 0.107 3.927 330.55
 Qualified: #10 3.915 304.94 #6 3.898 331.69
2:47 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 82 degrees, relative humidity 38 percent, barometer 29.97 inches, adjusted altitude 2,303 feet, track temperature 110 degrees.

Tasca is 20 - 14 against Force in prior events.

Force gets the holeshot but goes up in smoke about 60 feet out. The car makes a hard move toward the wall, he backs off of the throttle and steers the car back to the center of the track. Tasca gets about 800 feet out and the candles go out, not sure why.

Tasca is going to his fourth final round this year, the 20th of his career.

 Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed
71 Cruz Pedregon 1 Matt Hagan
E3 0.083 3.954 323.58 ****WINNER**** 0.086 3.922 328.30
 Prior rounds:
E2 (B Alexander ) 0.077 4.127 243.06 (J Todd ) 0.065 3.894 332.18

 Qualified: #5 3.896 328.62 #1 3.868 333.25
A good side-by-side, both right down the groove. They leave the line together, Pedregon gets out in front early, then Hagan is able to reel him in about 300 feet out and pull away for the win.

Matt Hagan's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.004), 330 ft(0.012), 660ft(0.019). MOV: 0.0295 seconds (approximately 14 feet).

Hagan is going to his fifth final this year, the 70th of his career.

Hagan will have lane choice over Tasca in the final round.
