Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Final Session

MADISON, Ill. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 10th annual NHRA Midwest Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 3.896/328.62, Now #4; Best prior run: 4.129/234.33, Was #13

5:01 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 75 degrees, relative humidity 34 percent, barometer 30.06 inches, adjusted altitude 1,601 feet, track temperature 108 degrees.

Pedregon hasn't made a full pass under power this weekend.

He changes that on this run. He goes right down the groove with a clean pass and he moves into the top half of the field in the fourth spot for now.

Left Lane: Jim Campbell Runs 4.142/253.33, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.995/317.27, Was #12
Right Lane: Blake Alexander Runs 3.892/322.88, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.926/324.36, Was #10

Alexander goes right down the groove with a clean pass and he moves up to the fourth spot. Campbell was on a decent pass but makes a move near the end of the run and he clicks it off early.

Left Lane: Alexis DeJoria No Time, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.983/323.43, Was #11
Right Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 4.130/242.06, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.915/330.72, Was #9

DeJoria gets about 300 feet out and makes a move to the left. She tries to correct, makes a quick move to the right, then takes out the 660 foot timing block. This is her first centerline infraction and it will cost her five points.

Todd was on a decent pass, gets about 700 feet out, starts moving around and he backs off of the throttle.

Left Lane: John Force Runs 6.881/93.84, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.915/304.94, Was #10
Right Lane: Bob Tasca III Runs 3.898/331.69, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.907/329.91, Was #8

Force hits the throttle, gets about 300 feet out and goes up in smoke. Tasca goes down the groove with a clean pass and he moves up to the sixth spot for now.

Left Lane: Tim Wilkerson Runs 3.936/326.71, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.905/322.11, Was #8
Right Lane: Robert Hight Runs 3.898/327.11, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.902/326.87, Was #7

Hight goes down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend but he doesn't improve. he will face John Force in the first round tomorrow. Wilkerson makes a clean pass but doesn't improve.

Left Lane: Ron Capps Runs 3.876/333.82, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.888/332.59, Was #1
Right Lane: Matt Hagan Runs 3.868/333.25, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.889/332.75, Was #2

A good side-by-side, both right down the groove at 333 MPH. Hagan makes his quickest pass of the weekend and quickest of the round to move into the top spot while collecting the three bonus points. Capps makes his quickest pass of the weekend but gets knocked down a notch as Hagan goes around him.

Ron Capps' incremental times: 60ft-0.874 sec., 330ft-2.235, 660ft-3.147/283.07 mph.

Matt Hagan's incremental times: 60ft-0.867 sec., 330ft-2.233, 660ft-3.139/286.50 mph.
