MADISON, Ill. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 10th annual NHRA Midwest Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run: Right Lane: Chris King Runs 7.334/98.49, Now #1 5:51 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 79 degrees, relative humidity 41 percent, barometer 29.96 inches, adjusted altitude 2,108 feet, track temperature 97 degrees. This is the third race for King. King leaves the line, gets about 100 feet out, and the header flames disappear, not sure why. Left Lane: Dale Creasy Jr. Runs 4.094/305.77, Now #2 Right Lane: Bobby Bode Runs 3.891/322.04, Now #1 Bode gets off of the line and drifts a little to the right. He continues to drift but is able to stay on the throttle. He goes through the lights with a career best ET and MPH to take the early pole. Creasy makes a clean, straight pass to get in the field in the second spot for now. Left Lane: Terry Haddock Runs 4.242/290.51, Now #4 Right Lane: Jim Campbell Runs 4.177/259.51, Now #3 Haddock gets about 700 feet out and starts mixing up cylinders. He gets about 900 feet out and the flames disappear. Campbell makes a decent pass but was off of the throttle a little early. Left Lane: Blake Alexander Runs 3.926/324.36, Now #2 Right Lane: Alexis DeJoria Runs 4.291/212.26, Now #6 DeJoria was moving around early in the run. She gets about 700 feet out, loses traction and backs off of the throttle. Alexander makes a clean pass and gets in the second spot for now. Left Lane: Bob Tasca III Runs 3.907/329.91, Now #3 Right Lane: Tim Wilkerson Runs 3.905/322.11, Now #2 A good side-by-side, both with full passes. Wilkerson gets into the second spot for now, Tasca right behind in eighth. Left Lane: Robert Hight Runs 3.902/326.87, Now #2 Right Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 4.129/234.33, Now #7 Pedregon was on a decent run for the first 600 feet or so, then a small flash comes from the headers and the engine goes silent. Hight goes down the groove with a clean, straight pass to get in the second spot for now. Left Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 3.915/330.72, Now #5 Right Lane: John Force Runs 5.816/125.75, Now #12 Force gets about 200 feet out and strikes the tires. He pedals once, can't get the slicks to bite, then gives up on the run. Todd makes a clean pass, right down the groove, header flames high and steady all the way through the run. Left Lane: Matt Hagan Runs 3.889/332.75, Now #2 Right Lane: Ron Capps Runs 3.888/332.59, Now #1 This was a good side-by-side run. Capps and Hagan both go down the groove with impressive runs top take the top two spots with side-by-side 332 MPH runs. Matt Hagan's incremental times: 60ft-0.864 sec., 330ft-2.233, 660ft-3.153/283.37 mph. Ron Capps' incremental times: 60ft-0.872 sec., 330ft-2.241, 660ft-3.154/283.91 mph.
