Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Final Session

CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 13th annual DeWalt NHRA Carolina Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.879/293.92, Now #14; Best prior run: 3.990/266.27, Was #14
Right Lane: Arthur Allen No Time, Now #16; Best prior run: 4.439/180.19, Was #16

Weather conditions: air temperature 85 degrees, relative humidity 56 percent, barometer 30.03 inches, adjusted altitude 3,060 feet, track temperature 109 degrees.

Langdon was late getting the car to fire and does a short burnout. He is on a good pass and clicks it off early. Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.851 sec., 330ft-2.177, 660ft-3.089/276.75 mph.

Allen is on a good looking pass and is out of the groove and collects the top end cones, so his run is DQ'ed. This is his first centerline penalty and will cost him five points.

Left Lane: Josh Hart Runs 3.760/320.36, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.862/318.62, Was #11
Right Lane: Doug Foley No Time, Now #13; Best prior run: 3.871/298.34, Was #13

Hart launched hard and kept it hitting on all eight. The car started moving around on the top end and after the finish line it crossed the centerline. He goes to the number five spot. Josh Hart's incremental times: 60ft-0.835 sec., 330ft-2.129, 660ft-3.014/287.78 mph.

Foley was shut off after the burnout. The word from the starting line is he was leaking fuel.

Left Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.739/321.35, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.808/322.58, Was #11
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 4.541/196.62, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.869/305.84, Was #12

Torrence is straight down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend to get into the top half of the field. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.826 sec., 330ft-2.109, 660ft-2.991/286.92 mph.

Kalitta started to lose traction and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Leah Pruett Runs 3.835/313.07, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.804/321.50, Was #11
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.764/318.99, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.779/323.66, Was #9

Pruett with a clean pass, but will not improve. She will start Sunday from the number 11 spot.

Brown kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to make his quickest pass of the weekend to move into the top half of the show. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.849 sec., 330ft-2.141, 660ft-3.017/289.26 mph.

Left Lane: Alex Laughlin Runs 3.829/291.45, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.793/315.19, Was #10
Right Lane: Justin Ashley Runs 3.756/324.05, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.768/324.90, Was #8

Laughlin with another good looking pass, but he will not improve and will start from the number 10 spot.

Ashley had the candles lit all the way down the track. He makes his quickest pass of the weekend to move up the ladder two spots. Justin Ashley's incremental times: 60ft-0.840 sec., 330ft-2.127, 660ft-3.013/287.11 mph.

Left Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 3.747/323.74, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.729/325.85, Was #4
Right Lane: Mike Salinas Runs 3.679/314.53, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.709/308.92, Was #3

Torrence with another good looking pass, but will not improve. Billy Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.840 sec., 330ft-2.123, 660ft-3.004/288.83 mph.

Salinas launched hard and kept it hooked up to make his quickest pass of weekend to go to the number two spot. Mike Salinas' incremental times: 60ft-0.820 sec., 330ft-2.070, 660ft-2.929/292.58 mph.

Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.734/314.02, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.708/322.96, Was #3
Right Lane: Brittany Force Runs 3.677/328.06, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.662/331.85, Was #1

Millican with another good looking pass. He will not improve on his earlier pass this weekend. Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.822 sec., 330ft-2.095, 660ft-2.981/286.98 mph.

Force launched hard and kept it hooked up to make the quickest pass of the session. She will qualify number one for the eighth consecutive race and 10th time this season. This is her 30th career number one spot. Brittany Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.820 sec., 330ft-2.080, 660ft-2.948/293.92 mph.
