Pro Stock Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Final Session

CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 13th annual DeWalt NHRA Carolina Nationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Charles Poskey No Time, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.172/188.81, Was #17
Right Lane: David Barron Runs 10.688/77.21, Now #19; No Prior Run

6:04 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 85 degrees, relative humidity 56 percent, barometer 30.03 inches, adjusted altitude 3,060 feet.

Poskey had problems at the hit and the bike nosed over.

Barron hit the throttle and made a move to the left. He kept moving to the centerline and had to back off of the throttle ending his weekend.

Left Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.024/191.35, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.049/191.67, Was #14
Right Lane: Ron Tornow Runs 30.634/160.71, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.222/187.03, Was #18

Tornow hits the throttle, the engine bogs badly, and he sits up on the bike. Phillips makes his quickest pass of the weekend and moves up a spot in the order.

Chris Bostick is qualified on the bump and has said he will not be able to race tomorrow so whomever ends up as the number one qualifier will get a bye in the first round tomorrow.

Left Lane: Jianna Salinas Runs 21.726/150.18, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.008/191.32, Was #11
Right Lane: Jim Underdahl Runs 6.985/193.46, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.097/192.71, Was #15

Underdahl goes down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend and he moves up to the tenth spot.

Salinas went to shift and the bike did not go into gear, the engine hits the rev limiter, and she clicks it off.

Left Lane: Cory Reed Runs 7.125/190.73, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.998/191.29, Was #11
Right Lane: Ryan Oehler Runs 7.065/190.35, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.027/193.38, Was #15

Reed makes a clean pass but slows from his earlier attempt and stays in the 11th spot.

Oehler slows from his earlier attempt and he stays in the 15th spot.

Left Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 6.903/196.24, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.956/195.19, Was #9
Right Lane: Kelly Clontz Runs 6.955/191.67, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.011/191.24, Was #13

Two good passes here, both down the groove. Hines makes his quickest pass of the weekend and he moves up to the seventh spot.

Clontz makes her quickest pass of the weekend and she moves up to the tenth spot.

Left Lane: Scotty Pollacheck Runs 6.940/195.99, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.923/192.96, Was #9
Right Lane: Angie Smith Runs 6.929/197.71, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.911/196.50, Was #8

No improvement for either rider and these two will meet in the first round tomorrow.

Left Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 7.194/197.02, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.901/197.33, Was #6
Right Lane: Joey Gladstone Runs 6.888/194.41, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.883/195.05, Was #4

Krawiec hits the throttle and the bike bogs. he stays on the throttle but doesn't improve.

Gladstone makes a good pass but he stays in the fourth spot.

Left Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 6.899/194.27, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.890/195.90, Was #5
Right Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.851/199.40, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.852/197.42, Was #3

Stoffer makes another good pass but doesn't improve.

Smith improves a little and sets the top speed for the event on this run.

Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 6.814/197.48, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.788/197.74, Was #1
Right Lane: Angelle Sampey Runs 7.404/131.83, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.848/195.05, Was #2

Johnson goes down the groove with another impressive pass and he will start from the top spot tomorrow.

Sampey was on a decent pass but sat up on the bike before she reached the finish line.
