CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 13th annual DeWalt NHRA Carolina Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Joey Severance Runs 5.416/268.12, Now #8; No Prior Run

4:31 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 83 degrees, relative humidity 62 percent, barometer 30.07 inches, adjusted altitude 2,934 feet.

Severance broke on his first attempt and did not make a pass. He goes down the groove with a good pass and gets in the show in the eighth spot for now.

Left Lane: Rachel Meyer Runs 5.279/271.19, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.933/105.08, Was #14
Right Lane: Julie Nataas Runs 5.210/277.26, Now #2; Best prior run: 8.150/99.27, Was #15

Meyer is able to make a full pass this time and makes a clean pass to get in the seventh spot for now. Nataas makes a full pass and moves all the way to the second spot for now.

Julie Nataas' incremental times: 60ft-0.942 sec., 330ft-2.412, 660ft-3.497/232.83 mph, 1,000ft-4.413.

Left Lane: Brad McBride Runs 6.682/149.96, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.465/156.79, Was #15
Right Lane: Dan Dietrich Runs 5.427/264.55, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.183/167.68, Was #14

McBride was on a decent pass but was off of the throttle early, not sure why. Dietrich makes a good pass to move up to the 11th spot.

Left Lane: Megan Smith Runs 5.392/270.59, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.670/211.39, Was #14
Right Lane: Robin Samsel Runs 5.262/275.67, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.328/273.39, Was #9

A good side-by-side, both right down the groove with good runs. Smith makes a career best pass to move up to the tenth spot. Samsel improves and moves up to seventh.

Left Lane: Mick Steele Runs 6.085/233.40, Now #14; Best prior run: 5.633/250.83, Was #14
Right Lane: Corey Michalek Runs 5.290/277.83, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.251/277.72, Was #6

Michalek makes another good pass but doesn't improve. Steele was a little sluggish all the way through the run.

Left Lane: Jared Dreher Runs 5.456/255.19, Now #13; Best prior run: 5.438/260.51, Was #13
Right Lane: Dan Mercier Runs 5.310/270.70, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.249/271.62, Was #5

Both go right down the groove but neither can improve. Mercier stays in the fifth spot, Dreher in 13th.

Left Lane: Jasmine Salinas Runs 5.295/279.32, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.293/280.37, Was #9
Right Lane: Karen Stalba Runs 5.262/277.09, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.242/278.46, Was #4

Salinas goes down the groove with a good pass, almost equalling her first run. Stalba makes another good run but doesn't improve.

Left Lane: Duane Shields Runs 5.302/277.15, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.231/277.54, Was #3
Right Lane: Matthew Cummings Runs 5.173/280.78, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.123/280.54, Was #1

Cummings makes another good run, the quickest of the session, but he doesn't improve. Shields makes a decent pass but slows from his earlier attempt.
