CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 13th annual DeWalt NHRA Carolina Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Jason Scruggs Runs 6.056/243.33, Now #2
Right Lane: Paul Daigrepont Runs 5.971/240.64, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 84 degrees, relative humidity 61 percent, barometer 30.06 inches, adjusted altitude 2,931 feet.

Scruggs is straight down the groove.

Daigrepont is skating around, but stays with it.

Left Lane: Mike Salinas Runs 9.393/95.34, Now #4
Right Lane: Chad Green Runs 5.812/250.97, Now #1

Salinas shook right at the hit and clicked it off.

Green with a good clean pass, his fastest this season.

Left Lane: Eric Latino Runs 10.354/85.05, Now #6
Right Lane: Dwayne Wolfe Runs 6.599/165.38, Now #4

Latino shook and clicked it off.

Wolfe clicked it off early.

Left Lane: Lyle Barnett Runs 5.863/243.06, Now #2
Right Lane: Jerico Balduf Runs 9.239/114.60, Now #6

Barnett was straight down the groove to the number two spot.

Balduf with tire shake and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 5.811/248.89, Now #1
Right Lane: Mike Castellana Runs 9.976/86.69, Now #9

Smith launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Rickie Smith's incremental times: 60ft-0.985 sec., 330ft-2.602, 660ft-3.850/199.64 mph, 1,000ft-4.911.

Castellana with tire shake and clicked it off.

Left Lane: JR Gray Runs 5.819/247.47, Now #3
Right Lane: Doug Winters Runs 5.868/241.80, Now #5

This was a good side-by-side drag race.

Gray was straight down the groove, hitting on all eight to go to the number three spot. JR Gray's incremental times: 60ft-0.982 sec., 330ft-2.579, 660ft-3.836/197.71 mph, 1,000ft-4.910.

Winters was right there with him to go to the number five spot. Doug Winters' incremental times: 60ft-0.959 sec., 330ft-2.574, 660ft-3.854/202.76 mph, 1,000ft-4.948.

Left Lane: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 13.603/60.37, Now #14
Right Lane: Jeffery Barker Runs 5.799/249.76, Now #1

alBalooshi with severe tire shake and clicked it off.

Barker launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Jeffery Barker's incremental times: 60ft-0.980 sec., 330ft-2.584, 660ft-3.833/199.79 mph, 1,000ft-4.899.

Left Lane: Justin Bond Runs 5.821/245.67, Now #5
Right Lane: Brandon Snider Runs 6.927/148.25, Now #11

Bond with a good clean pass, straight down the groove to the number five spot. Justin Bond's incremental times: 60ft-0.961 sec., 330ft-2.546, 660ft-3.819/195.00 mph, 1,000ft-4.905.

Snider clicked it off early.

Left Lane: Steve Jackson Runs 5.839/246.26, Now #6
Right Lane: Jose Gonzalez Runs 5.848/244.07, Now #7

These two were side-by-side all the way down the track.

Jackson goes to the number six spot and Gonzalez to the number seven spot.
