Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #2

MOHNTON, Pa. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 36th annual Mopar Express Lane NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Joe Morrison Runs 4.027/249.90, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.167/223.84, Was #12
Right Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.813/321.27, Now #9; Best prior run: 4.870/147.70, Was #13

Weather conditions: air temperature 72 degrees, relative humidity 67 percent, barometer 30.21 inches, adjusted altitude 1,712 feet, track temperature 101 degrees.

Morrison was on a good pass, but then started to mix up cylinders. The engine let go with a quick flash of flames. The word from the top end is there is oil on the track.

Langdon kept it hooked up and was straight down the groove to go to the number four spot. Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.844 sec., 330ft-2.168, 660ft-3.061/284.75 mph.

Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.796/324.83, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.871/302.14, Was #12

Brown was straight down the groove with a good clean pass. He moves to number nine spot. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.861 sec., 330ft-2.166, 660ft-3.052/286.80 mph.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.780/322.19, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.833/319.67, Was #11
Right Lane: Doug Foley Runs 3.893/296.44, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.856/297.55, Was #12

Kalitta good straight pass to move up the ladder three spots. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.851 sec., 330ft-2.154, 660ft-3.037/288.09 mph.

Foley was mixing up cylinders on the top end, but still had a good pass.

Left Lane: Leah Pruett Runs 3.748/323.66, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.733/323.89, Was #7
Right Lane: Josh Hart Runs 3.810/287.41, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.793/323.81, Was #9

Pruett with a good looking pass, she makes the quickest pass of the day. She will stay in the number seven spot. Leah Pruett's incremental times: 60ft-0.844 sec., 330ft-2.126, 660ft-3.003/287.41 mph.

Hart was on a good looking pass until the engine went silent. He will stay in the number nine spot. Josh Hart's incremental times: 60ft-0.847 sec., 330ft-2.151, 660ft-3.034/287.72 mph.

Left Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 3.704/329.91, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.699/327.98, Was #5
Right Lane: Justin Ashley Runs 3.721/328.78, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.729/327.74, Was #6

This was a good looking side-by-side drag race, the two quickest of the day.

Torrence launched hard and kept it hooked up with the quickest pass of the day. He will not improve. Billy Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.825 sec., 330ft-2.098, 660ft-2.972/290.38 mph.

Ashley is straight down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend. He will stay in the number six spot. Justin Ashley's incremental times: 60ft-0.835 sec., 330ft-2.114, 660ft-2.987/290.88 mph.

Left Lane: Mike Salinas Runs 3.717/329.42, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.699/332.18, Was #4
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.749/318.54, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.696/322.65, Was #3

Salinas had it hitting on all eight all the way down the track. He will not improve, but makes a good looking pass. Mike Salinas' incremental times: 60ft-0.832 sec., 330ft-2.115, 660ft-2.986/291.19 mph.

Millican with a good pass, until past the finish line when the chutes don't deploy. He is on the brakes hard and gets the car stopped safely. Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.827 sec., 330ft-2.108, 660ft-3.001/285.23 mph.

Left Lane: Brittany Force Runs 3.660/334.07, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.666/335.57, Was #1
Right Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.804/266.90, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.692/327.19, Was #2

Force launched hard and kept it hitting on all eight all the way down the track to make the quickest pass of the event. This is the second fastest pass of the event. she will hold on to the number one spot. Brittany Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.816 sec., 330ft-2.077, 660ft-2.941/295.21 mph.

Torrence started mixing up cylinders and clicked it off early.
