Top Alcohol Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Final Session

MOHNTON, Pa. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 36th annual Mopar Express Lane NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: John Headley Runs 10.458/64.15, Now #8; Best prior run: 7.417/126.22, Was #7
Right Lane: Dan Pomponio Runs 5.573/261.27, Now #7; Best prior run: 8.565/105.16, Was #8

Headley shook right at the hit and clicked it off.

Pomponio was straight down th groove with his quickest pass of the weekend. Dan Pomponio's incremental times: 60ft-0.963 sec., 330ft-2.497, 660ft-3.692/207.11 mph, 1,000ft-4.712.

Left Lane: Mathew Gill Runs 8.333/132.53, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.471/271.30, Was #4

Gill shook early and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Nick Januik Runs 5.486/258.42, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.489/266.69, Was #5
Right Lane: DJ Cox Jr. Runs 5.478/269.13, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.455/269.46, Was #2

This is a great side-by-side drag race.

Januik launched hard and kept it hooked up with his quickest pass of the weekend. He will stay in the number five spot. Nick Januik's incremental times: 60ft-0.949 sec., 330ft-2.449, 660ft-3.621/212.33 mph, 1,000ft-4.627.

Cox Jr. with another great pass. He will not improve and will start from the number two spot. DJ Cox Jr.'s incremental times: 60ft-0.960 sec., 330ft-2.483, 660ft-3.651/212.39 mph, 1,000ft-4.643.

Left Lane: Sean Bellemeur Runs 5.472/269.19, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.464/266.00, Was #3
Right Lane: Doug Gordon Runs 7.081/185.13, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.449/268.76, Was #1

Bellemeur was hooked up and hitting on all eight all the way down the track. He will start from the number three spot. Sean Bellemeur's incremental times: 60ft-0.973 sec., 330ft-2.480, 660ft-3.646/213.50 mph, 1,000ft-4.636.

Gordon with tire shake early and clicked it off. He will hold on to the number one spot for the third time this season and the 16th time in his career.
