Top Alcohol Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Session #1

MOHNTON, Pa. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 36th annual Mopar Express Lane NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: John Headley Runs 7.417/126.22, Now #2
Right Lane: Mathew Gill Runs 5.471/271.30, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 69 degrees, relative humidity 67 percent, barometer 29.98 inches, adjusted altitude 1,697 feet.

Headley is out of the groove early and over by the wall before he clicks it off.

Gill launched hard and kept it hooked up to make his quickest and fastest of the season. Mathew Gill's incremental times: 60ft-0.944 sec., 330ft-2.477, 660ft-3.651/212.39 mph, 1,000ft-4.640.

Left Lane: Brian Gawlik Runs 5.617/260.21, Now #2
Right Lane: Dan Pomponio Runs 8.565/105.16, Now #4

Gawlik is straight down the groove with a clean pass.

Pomponio rattled the tires early and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Nick Januik Runs 5.489/266.69, Now #3
Right Lane: DJ Cox Jr. Runs 5.487/269.13, Now #2

This is a great side-by-side drag race.

Januik is straight down the groove with a great pass. This is his fastest this season. Nick Januik's incremental times: 60ft-0.956 sec., 330ft-2.467, 660ft-3.644/211.20 mph, 1,000ft-4.646.

Cox Jr. kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go to the number two spot. DJ Cox Jr.'s incremental times: 60ft-0.961 sec., 330ft-2.483, 660ft-3.657/211.56 mph, 1,000ft-4.651.

Left Lane: Sean Bellemeur Runs 5.464/266.00, Now #2
Right Lane: Doug Gordon Runs 5.449/268.76, Now #1

This is another great side-by-side drag race to wrap up round one of qualifying.

Bellemeur with a great pass, straight down the groove to the number two spot. Sean Bellemeur's incremental times: 60ft-0.961 sec., 330ft-2.470, 660ft-3.631/214.21 mph, 1,000ft-4.621.

Gordon launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number one spot. He is hot off his Indy win Doug Gordon's incremental times: 60ft-0.931 sec., 330ft-2.451, 660ft-3.621/212.53 mph, 1,000ft-4.613.
