Top Alcohol Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Final Session

BROWNSBURG, Ind. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 67th annual Dodge//SRT NHRA U.S. Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Brian Hough Runs 5.542/268.28, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.508/268.33, Was #5
Right Lane: Dan Pomponio Runs 5.578/260.26, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.619/258.47, Was #12

Weather conditions: air temperature 77 degrees, relative humidity 55 percent, barometer 30.11 inches, adjusted altitude 2,499 feet.

This first four pair were a part of the JEGS Allstars.

Hough is stright down the groove, but will not improve. Brian Hough's incremental times: 60ft-0.988 sec., 330ft-2.530, 660ft-3.708/211.16 mph, 1,000ft-4.702.

Pomponio with a good clean pass, his quickest of the weekend and he will move up the ladder a couple spot. Dan Pomponio's incremental times: 60ft-0.957 sec., 330ft-2.494, 660ft-3.694/206.35 mph, 1,000ft-4.715.

Left Lane: Bob McCosh Runs 10.194/82.73, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.524/265.38, Was #6
Right Lane: Ray Drew Runs 5.761/260.66, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.596/252.24, Was #12

McCosh is up in smoke and clicked it off.

Drew with a nice pass, but will not improve.

Left Lane: Kyle Smith Runs 5.502/261.57, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.505/259.76, Was #3
Right Lane: Chip Beverett No Time, Now #17; Best prior run: 10.512/84.76, Was #17

Smith launched hard and was straight down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend. He will stay in the number tree spot. Kyle Smith's incremental times: 60ft-0.948 sec., 330ft-2.461, 660ft-3.636/210.90 mph, 1,000ft-4.643.

Beverett shook and his chutes came out. He came to a stop on the track.

Left Lane: Chris Marshall Runs 8.704/78.91, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.507/267.32, Was #4
Right Lane: DJ Cox Runs 6.399/243.81, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.265/161.50, Was #16

Marshall with tire shake and clicked it off.

Cox with shook and clicked it off.

Right Lane: Doug Gordon Runs 5.489/267.59, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.862/191.57, Was #14

Gordon launched hard nd kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go to the number three spot. Doug Gordon's incremental times: 60ft-0.951 sec., 330ft-2.472, 660ft-3.647/211.36 mph, 1,000ft-4.647.

Left Lane: Aryan Rochon Runs 6.435/163.31, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.055/154.71, Was #15
Right Lane: Nick Januik Runs 9.193/98.34, Now #14; Best prior run: 5.851/176.90, Was #14

Rochon shook and pedaled it.

Januik shook early and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Brian Gawlik Runs 5.580/261.22, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.579/261.42, Was #12
Right Lane: Andy Bohl Runs 9.125/99.63, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.552/247.97, Was #9

Gawlik with another good looking pass, but will not improve. Brian Gawlik's incremental times: 60ft-0.957 sec., 330ft-2.498, 660ft-3.698/206.76 mph, 1,000ft-4.718.

Bohl with tire shake.

Left Lane: Shane Westerfield Runs 5.531/267.37, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.553/265.59, Was #10
Right Lane: Tony Bogolo Runs 5.514/265.59, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.545/264.49, Was #8

Westerfield kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to make his quickest pass this weekend and move up the ladder one spot. Shane Westerfield's incremental times: 60ft-0.971 sec., 330ft-2.515, 660ft-3.693/210.70 mph, 1,000ft-4.689.

Bogolo is straight down the groove with his quickest and fastest pass of the weekend to move up the ladder one spot. Tony Bogolo's incremental times: 60ft-0.959 sec., 330ft-2.477, 660ft-3.663/210.41 mph, 1,000ft-4.667.

Left Lane: Sean Bellemeur Runs 9.384/93.65, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.470/268.49, Was #1
Right Lane: Annie Whiteley Runs 11.431/88.56, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.480/268.92, Was #2

Bellemeur was real loose early and clicked it off. He will hold on to the number one spot for the 19th time in his career and the third time this season.

Whiteley lost traction right the hit and clicked it off.
