BAYTOWN, Texas - Results of round 1 eliminations in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 33rd annual Mopar Express Lane NHRA SpringNationals presented by Pennzoil:

Weather conditions: air temperature 70 degrees, relative humidity 76 percent, barometer 29.93 inches, adjusted altitude 1,499 feet, track temperature 78 degrees.
Jerry Savoie is 8 -2 against Steve Johnson in their last 10 meetings. This is their first meeting this year.
Savoie is 15 - 5 against Johnson in prior events.

Johnson with the starting line advantage, but broke right at the hit. Savoie is straight down the groove for the win.

Bostick with the starting line advantage, but Hines had the difference made up by the time they go by the Christmas tree and never trailed from there on for the win. Hines with his quickest and fastest pass of the weekend for the win.

This is the 12th time Ryan Oehler has qualified in the top half of the field (43 races) and the 5th time he has done it this year. He has not won a round in his last 4 starts.
This is the first time Clontz and Oehler have faced each other in eliminations.
Oehler with the starting line advantage and never trailed for the win. Oehler with his fastest pass of the weekend for the win. He will give up lane choice to hines in the next round.

Clontz with her quickest and fastest pass of the weekend in the losing effort.

The gap (.060) between Matt Smith and Angelle Sampey is the biggest gap between #1 & #2 in the motorcycle class since the Chicago race in 2014 (Eddie Krawiec 6.872 - Hector Arana Jr. 6.941 gap of .069).
Matt Smith is 34 - 8 in round 1 when #1 (he lost last week as #1). He has never lost twice in the same year when #1.
Ingwersen is a no-show to give Smith the freebie.

Smith runs the first 200 mph pass here and sets the track record.
