Top Alcohol Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Session #1

BAYTOWN, Texas - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 33rd annual Mopar Express Lane NHRA SpringNationals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Mark Billington Runs 5.823/203.31, Now #1
Right Lane: Chris Marshall Runs 7.409/131.81, Now #2

Billington was on a good pass, but then started to lose traction and clicked it off.

Marshall shook early and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Jay Payne No Time, Now #4
Right Lane: Kris Hool Runs 5.625/260.66, Now #1

Payne started to drift out of the groove and collected the half track timing block, so his run was DQ'ed.

Hool is stright down the groove with a nice pass. Kris Hool's incremental times: 60ft-0.989 sec., 330ft-2.529, 660ft-3.731/197.51 mph, 1,000ft-4.759.

Left Lane: Bob McCosh Runs 5.596/263.10, Now #1
Right Lane: Annie Whiteley Runs 6.783/146.67, Now #4

McCosh launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Bob McCosh's incremental times: 60ft-0.985 sec., 330ft-2.529, 660ft-3.722/207.85 mph, 1,000ft-4.738.

Whiteley started to lose traction and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Aryan Rochon Runs 9.277/93.25, Now #7
Right Lane: Brian Hough Runs 5.486/265.01, Now #1

Rochon is real loose right at the hit and was making a move toward the wall before he clicked it off.

Hough kept the Hoosiers stuck and hitting on all eight to go to the number one spot. Brian Hough's incremental times: 60ft-0.947 sec., 330ft-2.458, 660ft-3.636/210.77 mph, 1,000ft-4.639.

Left Lane: Sean Bellemeur Runs 10.065/84.42, Now #8
Right Lane: Doug Gordon Runs 11.290/73.64, Now #9

Bellemeur shook right at the hit and clicked it off.

Gordon started to sake early and clicked it off.
