CHANDLER, Ariz. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 36th annual NHRA Arizona Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Right Lane: Fernando Cuadra Runs 6.795/204.54, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 79 degrees, relative humidity 29 percent, barometer 28.84 inches, adjusted altitude 3,025 feet, track temperature 92 degrees.

Cuadra is straight down the groove, but continues to struggle with his new combination.

Left Lane: Marty Robertson No Time, Now #3

Robertson started to stage and double stepped it and drove through the beams and will not get a time for this pass. Prusiensky was lined up with him and the Safety Safari held him, so he will run by himself.

Right Lane: Alan Prusiensky Runs 6.702/190.73, Now #1

Prusiensky was straight down the groove, but pushed in the clutch early.

Left Lane: Cristian Cuadra Runs 11.456/61.93, Now #3
Right Lane: Joey Grose No Time, Now #5

Grose shut off at the end of his burnout. The word from the starting line was he heard something that didn't sound right and decided to shut it off.

Cuadra with severe tire shake and pushed in the clutch right at the hit.

Left Lane: Val Smeland No Time, Now #7
Right Lane: Alex Laughlin Runs 6.611/207.50, Now #1

Smeland can't get the car to fire, the word from the starting line is the team believes it was a battery issue.

Laughlin launched hard and was straight down the groove with a good pass. Alex Laughlin's incremental times: 60ft-0.974 sec., 330ft-2.745, 660ft-4.233/165.01 mph, 1,000ft-5.521.

Left Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.593/208.10, Now #1
Right Lane: Aaron Stanfield Runs 6.599/208.46, Now #2

a couple good clean passes.

Anderson is straight down the groove with the quickest pass of the session. Greg Anderson's incremental times: 60ft-0.966 sec., 330ft-2.739, 660ft-4.224/165.62 mph, 1,000ft-5.508.

Stanfield was right there with him to go to the number two spot. Aaron Stanfield's incremental times: 60ft-0.973 sec., 330ft-2.745, 660ft-4.231/165.33 mph, 1,000ft-5.515.

Left Lane: Bo Butner Runs 6.595/208.55, Now #2
Right Lane: Deric Kramer Runs 6.613/208.36, Now #5

Butner launched hard and kept it hooked up to make the second quickest pass of the day. Bo Butner's incremental times: 60ft-0.981 sec., 330ft-2.749, 660ft-4.232/165.86 mph, 1,000ft-5.512.

Kramer with a nice pass to start the weekend. Deric Kramer's incremental times: 60ft-0.980 sec., 330ft-2.758, 660ft-4.245/165.40 mph, 1,000ft-5.529.

Left Lane: Fernando Cuadra Jr. Runs 6.656/206.13, Now #6
Right Lane: Steve Graham Runs 8.131/116.65, Now #9

Cuadra Jr. with a good clean pass to start the weekend. Fernando Cuadra Jr.'s incremental times: 60ft-0.979 sec., 330ft-2.767, 660ft-4.263/164.27 mph, 1,000ft-5.559.

Graham with tire shake and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Chris McGaha Runs 6.588/207.98, Now #1
Right Lane: Matt Hartford Runs 6.610/208.71, Now #5

McGaha launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the top of the list. Chris McGaha's incremental times: 60ft-0.964 sec., 330ft-2.738, 660ft-4.223/165.82 mph, 1,000ft-5.503.

Hartford is straight down the groove with a nice pass. Matt Hartford's incremental times: 60ft-0.981 sec., 330ft-2.757, 660ft-4.243/165.40 mph, 1,000ft-5.526.

Left Lane: Kenny Delco Runs 6.604/208.75, Now #6
Right Lane: Erica Enders Runs 6.579/209.75, Now #1

Delco with a good pass...Kenny Delco's incremental times: 60ft-0.973 sec., 330ft-2.751, 660ft-4.238/165.78 mph, 1,000ft-5.520.

Enders launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Erica Enders' incremental times: 60ft-0.968 sec., 330ft-2.740, 660ft-4.222/165.84 mph, 1,000ft-5.500.

Left Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.619/208.01, Now #11
Right Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.567/208.52, Now #1

Line is straight down the groove. Jason Line's incremental times: 60ft-0.976 sec., 330ft-2.758, 660ft-4.247/165.21 mph, 1,000ft-5.533.

Coughlin launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number one spot. He has had the quickest pass of every round of racing this year. All eight rounds in Pomona and starts here with the quickest pass. Jeg Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-0.963 sec., 330ft-2.726, 660ft-4.207/166.15 mph, 1,000ft-5.486.
