Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #3

POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 60th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Leah Pruett Runs 3.687/328.06, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.715/324.75, Was #3

Weather conditions: air temperature 71 degrees, relative humidity 42 percent, barometer 28.83 inches, adjusted altitude 2,528 feet, track temperature 104 degrees. Rob Passey was lined up in the other lane, but he had problems. First he had problems getting the car to start and then on the burnout, he could get the car in reverse, so he drove off the top end. The word is Passey was leaking oil. Rob Passey was charged with an oildown, #1 for the season. That will cost 5 points.

The NHRA shut Pruett it off, so they could get Passey off the track. Pruett's crew just fueled the car and restarted it.

She launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Leah Pruett's incremental times: 60ft-0.842 sec., 330ft-2.100, 660ft-2.958/294.82 mph.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.726/325.30, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.729/329.75, Was #4
Right Lane: Cameron Ferre Runs 4.321/208.65, Now #12; No Prior Run

Kalitta launched hard and kept it hooked up to make his quickest pass of the weekend. He will stay in the number four spot. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.841 sec., 330ft-2.122, 660ft-2.992/291.51 mph.

Ferre started to lose traction just past half track and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Jim Maroney Runs 4.154/226.66, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.035/294.43, Was #10
Right Lane: Brandon Welch No Time, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.841/272.17, Was #9

Maroney started to shake and clicked it off.

Welch couldn't get the car to fire.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 5.045/140.28, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.780/322.42, Was #8
Right Lane: Justin Ashley Runs 7.221/78.52, Now #11; Best prior run: 4.094/214.96, Was #11

Brown started to smoke the tires just past 33o feet and clicked it off.

Ashley was dropping cylinders right at the hit and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 3.748/322.58, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.758/325.45, Was #6
Right Lane: Brittany Force Runs 3.686/332.51, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.706/329.10, Was #3

McMillen kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to make his quickest pass of the weekend. He will stay in the number six spot. Terry McMillen's incremental times: 60ft-0.841 sec., 330ft-2.126, 660ft-3.005/288.03 mph. He makes the fourth quickest pass of the session.

Force launched hard and was straight down the groove to go to the number one spot. Brittany Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.832 sec., 330ft-2.098, 660ft-2.962/293.03 mph.

Left Lane: Shawn Reed Runs 5.148/133.71, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.735/328.86, Was #5
Right Lane: Austin Prock Runs 6.217/98.77, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.361/195.03, Was #13

Reed is up in smoke early and clicked it off.

Prock is up in smoke right off the starting line and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Shawn Langdon No Time, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.699/322.42, Was #3
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 4.650/161.36, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.779/283.55, Was #7

Langdon had problems on the burnout, then when the light when green the car didn't move.

Millican was up in smoke early and clicked it off.
