Top Fuel Harley Qualifying Notes, Session #2

POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Fuel Harley at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 60th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Mike Scott Runs 8.496/173.74, Now #8; Best prior run: 14.838/122.68, Was #8
Right Lane: Tim Kerrigan Runs 7.451/166.58, Now #5; No Prior Run

4:59 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 69 degrees, relative humidity 39 percent, barometer 28.89 inches, adjusted altitude 2,318 feet, track temperature 79 degrees.

Jay Turner is number one at 6.318 and Mike Scott is on the bump spot at 14.838. The sun is just setting behind the West grandstand.

Scott's engine issues continue, but he makes a big improvement this time to stay #8.

Kerrigan was on a better pass,but the bike drifted towards the center line down track and he had to lift.


Left Lane: Rich Vreeland Runs 7.506/147.20, Now #7; Best prior run: 9.339/96.73, Was #9
Right Lane: Tyler Wilson Runs 7.102/145.33, Now #4; No Prior Run

Wilson's bike starts puffing smoke way down track and he slows. The pass is still good enough fot the current top half of the field.

Vreeland gets further this time and is abe to bump back into the field.

Left Lane: Tii Tharpe Runs 6.686/174.05, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.630/184.80, Was #3
Right Lane: Rickey House Runs 17.773/60.35, Now #8; Best prior run: 8.066/212.53, Was #8

Rickey House is on the bump spot at 8.066.

House's bike i lay off the line and he gives it up early.

Another strong pass for Tharpe to stay #3 for now.

Tii Tharpe's incremental times: 60ft-1.132 sec., 330ft-2.888, 660ft-4.235/183.84 mph, 1,000ft-5.474.

Left Lane: Jay Turner No Time, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.318/217.49, Was #1
Right Lane: Randal Andras No Time, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.362/202.39, Was #2

Andras is a no show and Turner's bike quit right off the line and had to be walked back and away.

5:09 p.m. Rickey House is on the bump spot at 8.066.
