Top Fuel Harley Qualifying Notes, Session #1
By David Gerard

POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Fuel Harley at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 60th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com listing lane, rider name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Tony Ruggiero Runs 8.303/116.20, Now #2
Right Lane: Greg Justice Runs 7.186/180.04, Now #1

11:55 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 69 degrees, relative humidity 36 percent, barometer 28.96 inches, adjusted altitude 2,169 feet, track temperature 98 degrees.

Both bikes leave hard and run together until right after the 330 lights.

Ruggiero's engine gets real unhappy and there is a lot of smoke from the tail pipes and the bike slows.

Justice gets to the finish line and posts the first numbers of the session.

Greg Justice's incremental times: 60ft-1.190 sec., 330ft-3.051, 660ft-4.577/158.39 mph, 1,000ft-5.962.

Left Lane: Tim Kerrigan No Time, Now #4
Right Lane: Rich Vreeland Runs 9.339/96.73, Now #3

Two broken runs.

Kerrigan doesn't leave the line. He climbs off the bike and the crew pushes the bike away.

Vreeland gets to just before half track and is off the handle and coasting.

Left Lane: Tyler Wilson No Time, Now #6
Right Lane: Mike Scott Runs 14.838/122.68, Now #4

Scott's bike is real unhappy at the green. It has a big bog and grumbles down the track a ways, before he gives it up.

Wilson doesn't make a run.

Left Lane: Randal Andras Runs 6.362/202.39, Now #2
Right Lane: Jay Turner Runs 6.318/217.49, Now #1

We get a pair to the lights under power!

Andras gets away first and gets to the finish line first by a tad to score the number two spot for now.

Turner is quicker and faster to take over the top spot.

Randal Andras' incremental times: 60ft-1.102 sec., 330ft-2.844, 660ft-4.183/187.11 mph, 1,000ft-5.318.
