Kalitta, Beckman, Coughlin, J. Salinas, Close 2019 with Auto Club NHRA Finals Victories



POMONA, Calif. - At his home track, Funny Car's Robert Hight raced to his third career NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series world title and second in three years on Sunday by advancing to the final round of the 55th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.

Steve Torrence (Top Fuel), Erica Enders (Pro Stock) and Andrew Hines (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also claimed world championships in their respective categories at the final race of the NHRA Mello Yello Countdown to the Championship. The race winners of the final event of the 2019 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season were Doug Kalitta (Top Fuel), Jack Beckman (Funny Car), Jeg Coughlin Jr. (Pro Stock) and Jianna Salinas (Pro Stock Motorcycle).

In dramatic fashion, Robert Hight claimed his third Funny World World championship title at the Auto Club NHRA Finals with a half-track burnout.

Top Fuel driver Steve Torrence claimed his second consecutive Top Fuel world championship title during the third round at the Auto Club NHRA Finals.

Pro Stock driver Erica Enders took home her third Pro Stock world championship title.

Pro Stock Motorcycle World Champion Andrew Hines on his Screamin' Eagle Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson

Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Andrew Hines clinched his sixth world championship title.

Doug Kalitta, 3.716 seconds, 332.67 mph defeated Richie Crampton, 4.884 seconds, 154.28 mph.

Doug Kalitta rocketed his way to the Top Fuel class win at Auto Club Speedway at Pomona.

Jack Beckman, Dodge Charger, 3.920 seconds, 323.27 mph defeated Robert Hight, Chevy Camaro, Broke.

Jack Beckman stormed his way to the Funny car class win at Auto Club Speedway at Pomona.

Jeg Coughlin, Chevy Camaro, 6.558 seconds, 210.54 mph defeated Fernando Cuadra, Camaro, 6.604 seconds, 209.72 mph.

Five-time Pro Stock world champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. claimed his 82nd career win at the Auto Club NHRA Finals.

Pro Stock Motorcycle -- Jianna Salinas, Suzuki, 7.464 seconds, 180.81 mph defeated Jerry Savoie, Suzuki, Broke.

Rookie Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Jianna Salinas claimed her first career win in dramatic fashion.
