With Titles on the Line, Hagan, Pritchett, Coughlin and M. Smith take Provisional No. 1 Spots

At Auto Club NHRA Finals



POMONA, Calif. - Fresh off two straight wins and still in championship contention, Matt Hagan kept his hot streak going by racing to the provisional No. 1 spot in Funny Car during qualifying on Friday at the 55th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals.

Leah Pritchett (Top Fuel), Jeg Coughlin Jr. (Pro Stock) and Matt Smith (Pro Stock Motorcycle) are also provisional No. 1 qualifiers in their respective categories at the last of six races in the 2019 NHRA Mello Yello Countdown to the Championship playoffs. The race also serves as the finale of the 24-race 2019 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season.

Funny Car No. 1 qualifier Matt Hagan drove his Mopar Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody to a 3.872 second pass at 333.58 mph.

Two-time Funny Car world champion Matt Hagan is chasing his third straight win and currently atop the category in the No. 1 position.

Top Fuel No. 1 qualifier Leah Pritchett drove her Mopar Dodge dragster to a 3.694 second pass at 322.88 mph.

Top Fuel driver Leah Pritchett rocketed to the No. 1 spot at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona with a 3.694 at 322.88 mph.

Pro Stock No. 1 qualifier Jeg Coughlin Jr. drove his Jegs.Com/Elite Performance Chevrolet Camaro to a 6.533 second pass at 210.70 mph.

Pro Stock star Jeg Coughlin Jr. rocketed to the provisional No. 1 spot on Friday night. He is after his sixth Pro Stock world championship and currently sits second in points.

Pro Stock Motorcycle No. 1 qualifier Matt Smith rode his Elite Motorsports Denso Auto Parts EBR to a 6.815 second pass at 197.33 mph.

Defending Pro Stock Motorcycle world champion Matt Smith raced to the provisional No. 1 qualifier position at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.
