Top Alcohol Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Session #1

POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 55th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Right Lane: Hunter Jones Runs 7.443/117.57, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 69 degrees, relative humidity 60 percent, barometer 28.94 inches, adjusted altitude 2,470 feet, track temperature 71 degrees.

Jones labored off the starting line and then the car bogged and he clicked it off.

Left Lane: Bret Williamson Runs 5.667/254.42, Now #1
Right Lane: Mike Doushgounian Runs 8.905/120.31, Now #3

Williamson with a clean pass to start the weekend, straight down the groove. Bret Williamson's incremental times: 60ft-0.972 sec., 330ft-2.536, 660ft-3.748/203.77 mph, 1,000ft-4.785.

Doushgounian shook right at the hit and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Ray Martin Runs 8.649/155.17, Now #4
Right Lane: Tyson Parker Runs 6.664/160.38, Now #2

Martin shook right at the hit and clicked it off.

Parker started to lose traction and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Terry Ruckman Runs 9.669/90.59, Now #7
Right Lane: Steve Gasparrelli Runs 5.543/264.65, Now #1

Ruckman with tire shake right at the hit and clicked it off.

Gasparrelli is straight down the groove with a good pass to go to the number one spot. Steve Gasparrelli's incremental times: 60ft-0.969 sec., 330ft-2.490, 660ft-3.681/208.23 mph, 1,000ft-4.692.

Left Lane: Ulf Leanders Runs 6.310/178.33, Now #3
Right Lane: Jay Payne Runs 10.526/81.71, Now #9

Leanders started to lose traction and clicked it off.
