LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 19th annual Dodge NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Mike Quayle Runs 14.804/79.85, Now #20; Best prior run: 13.193/92.38, Was #19
Right Lane: Mike Burns Runs 12.177/100.11, Now #19; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 68 degrees, relative humidity 10 percent, barometer 28.02 inches, adjusted altitude 3,063 feet, track temperature 70 degrees.

Quayle lost traction right at the hit and clicked it off.

Burns was up in smoke right at the hit and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Dan Mercier Runs 5.335/273.88, Now #8; Best prior run: 11.226/72.47, Was #18
Right Lane: Nicholas Childers Runs 6.169/212.93, Now #18; Best prior run: 5.940/214.83, Was #17

Mercier kept the candles lit all the way down the 1320 to get in the show into the top half of the show. Dan Mercier's incremental times: 60ft-0.952 sec., 330ft-2.458, 660ft-3.578/224.14 mph, 1,000ft-4.522.

Childers was dropping cylinders right at the hit, but stayed with it.

Anderson was straight down the groove to move up the ladder a couple spots. Ron Anderson's incremental times: 60ft-0.979 sec., 330ft-2.489, 660ft-3.641/216.51 mph, 1,000ft-4.619.

Bateman kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to get in the show and into the top half of the show. Garrett Bateman's incremental times: 60ft-0.939 sec., 330ft-2.440, 660ft-3.563/224.47 mph, 1,000ft-4.505.

Left Lane: Jackie Fricke Runs 5.569/266.37, Now #16; Best prior run: 5.485/266.48, Was #16

Fricke with a clean pass, but will not improve and stays on the bubble.

Myers with his quickest pass of the day, but will not get in the show.

Stevens starts to get loose and clicks it off.

Ahten is drifting out of the groove and got real close to the centerline as he clicked it off.

Hart is straight down the groove with a good pass, he will not improve and stays in the number six spot. Josh Hart's incremental times: 60ft-0.932 sec., 330ft-2.436, 660ft-3.562/223.14 mph, 1,000ft-4.508.

Salinas with a clean pass, but she will not improve and stays in the number 12 spot.

Grissel launched hard and kept it hooked up to make the quickest pass of the session. He will not improve and stays in the number five spot. Casey Grisel's incremental times: 60ft-0.938 sec., 330ft-2.412, 660ft-3.523/225.07 mph, 1,000ft-4.466.

Severance launched hard and kept it hooked up to make the second quickest pass of the day behind his earlier pass today. Joey Severance's incremental times: 60ft-0.889 sec., 330ft-2.303, 660ft-3.409/223.73 mph, 1,000ft-4.356.

Nataas with another great pass, she makes the second quickest pass of the session. She will not improve and holds on to the number two spot. Julie Nataas' incremental times: 60ft-0.937 sec., 330ft-2.412, 660ft-3.516/226.51 mph, 1,000ft-4.449.
