Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #2

LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 19th annual Dodge NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Rob Passey Runs 9.116/84.36, Now #18; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Chris Karamesines Runs 4.323/200.29, Now #14; No Prior Run

Passey is making his first appearance on NHRA tour since St. Louis 2017. When the light turns green the car didn't move. He coast on down the track.

Karamesines has a fireball around 330 feet and he clicks it off. He still gets in the show.

Left Lane: Justin Ashley Runs 4.136/213.98, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.382/182.72, Was #15
Right Lane: Jim Maroney Runs 11.078/66.14, Now #19; No Prior Run

Ashley's car goes silent just past half track. He still moves up the ladder one spot.

Maroney is up in smoke right at the hit and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Cory McClenathan Runs 4.136/219.65, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.110/278.40, Was #13
Right Lane: Scott Palmer Runs 4.112/226.32, Now #14; No Prior Run

McClenathan started to haze the tires and clicks it off.

Palmer also starts to lose traction and clicks it off.

Right Lane: Austin Prock Runs 3.726/330.96, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.674/89.72, Was #18

Prock launched hard and kept it hooked up to get in the show all the way up to the number four spot. Austin Prock's incremental times: 60ft-0.835 sec., 330ft-2.123, 660ft-2.997/290.44 mph.

Left Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 11.466/79.51, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.765/320.05, Was #10
Right Lane: Troy Buff Runs 3.945/261.88, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.585/168.28, Was #18

Torrence is up in smoke right at the hit and clicked it off.

Buff with a good pass to get in the show, straight down the groove. Troy Buff's incremental times: 60ft-0.854 sec., 330ft-2.200, 660ft-3.108/280.37 mph. That bumps out

Left Lane: Richie Crampton Runs 3.709/327.03, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.738/327.27, Was #7
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 6.593/102.42, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.888/250.41, Was #12

Crampton launched hard and kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go to the top of h list. Richie Crampton's incremental times: 60ft-0.836 sec., 330ft-2.112, 660ft-2.978/292.52 mph.

Brown starts to lose traction right at the hit and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Mike Salinas Runs 3.682/329.34, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.732/328.70, Was #6
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 7.362/84.43, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.811/322.04, Was #11

Salinas was straight down the groove, he had it hitting on all eight and hooked up to go to the number one spot. Mike Salinas' incremental times: 60ft-0.837 sec., 330ft-2.103, 660ft-2.957/295.27 mph.

Millican starts to haze the tires early and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Leah Pritchett Runs 3.681/328.38, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.723/330.47, Was #5
Right Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 3.662/332.34, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.762/330.63, Was #9

This is a great side-by-side drag race.

Pritchett is straight down the groove to the number two spot. Leah Pritchett's incremental times: 60ft-0.836 sec., 330ft-2.098, 660ft-2.952/294.63 mph.

Torrence with the header flames shooting high over the rear wing all the way down the track to go to the number one spot. Billy Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.826 sec., 330ft-2.085, 660ft-2.941/295.85 mph.

Left Lane: Brittany Force Runs 3.659/338.17, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.717/329.02, Was #6
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 4.196/206.64, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.751/329.67, Was #9

Force launched hard and kept it hitting on all eight and hooked up to go to the number one spot. She sets the track E.T. record and the National speed record. Brittany Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.827 sec., 330ft-2.083, 660ft-2.944/295.66 mph.

Kalitta's engine let go around half track and he coasted on down track.

Left Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 5.034/137.20, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.714/326.00, Was #6
Right Lane: Shawn Reed Runs 12.831/72.63, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.736/321.04, Was #8

McMillen started to lose traction and clicked it off.

Reed was up in smoke right at the hit and clicked it off.
