LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 19th annual Dodge NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Troy Buff Runs 4.585/168.28, Now #2
Right Lane: Cory McClenathan Runs 4.110/278.40, Now #1

Buff is making his first appearance on the tour since this race last year.

Buff started to haze the tires around half track and clicked it off.

McClenathan was dropping cylinders early and never got it to clean up.

Left Lane: Jim Maroney No Time, Now #4
Right Lane: Justin Ashley Runs 4.382/182.72, Now #2

Maroney was leaking fuel on the burnout. He is shut off and out of the car.

Ashley shakes right at the hit and he clicks it off.

Left Lane: Shawn Reed Runs 3.736/321.04, Now #1
Right Lane: Cameron Ferre Runs 3.942/299.33, Now #2

Reed launched hard and kept it hooked up to go the number one spot. Shawn Reed's incremental times: 60ft-0.841 sec., 330ft-2.127, 660ft-2.997/290.57 mph.

Ferre makes a good pass, but then loses the an engine in the shut down area. The word is there is oil.

Left Lane: Scott Palmer No Time, Now #8
Right Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 3.714/326.00, Now #1

Palmer had a fuel line come off after the burnout and is shut off.

McMillen kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go to the number one spot. Terry McMillen's incremental times: 60ft-0.840 sec., 330ft-2.112, 660ft-2.982/291.01 mph.

Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.811/322.04, Now #4
Right Lane: Richie Crampton Runs 3.738/327.27, Now #3

This was a good side-by-side drag race...

Millican is straight down the groove to the number four spot. Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.863 sec., 330ft-2.177, 660ft-3.068/286.01 mph.

Crampton had it hitting on all eight all the way down the track to go to the number three spot. Richie Crampton's incremental times: 60ft-0.847 sec., 330ft-2.133, 660ft-3.005/290.44 mph.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.888/250.41, Now #6
Right Lane: Mike Salinas Runs 3.732/328.70, Now #2

Brown was on a good pass until it went silent and coasted past the finish line.

Salinas launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number two spot. Mike Salinas' incremental times: 60ft-0.841 sec., 330ft-2.130, 660ft-3.002/291.13 mph.

Left Lane: Austin Prock Runs 6.674/89.72, Now #12
Right Lane: Leah Pritchett Runs 3.723/330.47, Now #2

Prock drives into tire smoke and clicks it off.

Pritchett kept it hitting on all eight and hooked up to go to the number two spot. Leah Pritchett's incremental times: 60ft-0.855 sec., 330ft-2.130, 660ft-2.993/291.26 mph.

Right Lane: Brittany Force Runs 3.717/329.02, Now #2

Torrence with a good looking pass to start the weekend, straight down the groove. Billy Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.853 sec., 330ft-2.157, 660ft-3.033/290.82 mph.

Force had it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go to the number two spot. Brittany Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.846 sec., 330ft-2.126, 660ft-2.993/293.79 mph.

Right Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.765/320.05, Now #9

Kalitta is straight down the groove to go to the number seven spot. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.845 sec., 330ft-2.147, 660ft-3.020/290.51 mph.

Torrence with a clean pass to start the weekend. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.835 sec., 330ft-2.129, 660ft-3.018/286.32 mph.
