LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 19th annual Dodge NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Right Lane: Michael Bowman Runs 11.710/80.75, Now #1

Bowman with severe tire shake right st the hit and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Jim Whiteley Runs 5.805/244.47, Now #1
Right Lane: Scott Oksas Runs 5.827/252.38, Now #2

Weather conditions: air temperature 66 degrees, relative humidity 9 percent, barometer 28.08 inches, adjusted altitude 2,826 feet, track temperature 75 degrees.

This was a great side-by-side drag race.

Whiteley is straight down the groove with a real nice pass to go to the number one spot. Jim Whiteley's incremental times: 60ft-0.952 sec., 330ft-2.547, 660ft-3.806/196.04 mph, 1,000ft-4.887.

Oksas is right there with him to the number two spot. Scott Oksas' incremental times: 60ft-1.011 sec., 330ft-2.643, 660ft-3.878/199.46 mph, 1,000ft-4.935.

Satterfield clicked it off early.
