ENNIS, Texas - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 34th annual AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Right Lane: Jim Campbell Runs 4.664/181.30, Now #17; Best prior run: 4.781/173.32, Was #18

2:10 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 83 degrees, relative humidity 51 percent, barometer 29.14 inches, adjusted altitude 3,264 feet, track temperature 115 degrees.

Campbell has problems about 500 feet out and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Jack Beckman Runs 3.990/316.90, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.937/327.11, Was #11
Right Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 5.056/151.15, Now #15; Best prior run: 4.289/216.03, Was #15

Beckman goes down the groove with a decent pass for the conditions but he doesn't improve.

Jack Beckman's incremental times: 60ft-0.887 sec., 330ft-2.282, 660ft-3.221/273.50 mph.

Pedregon gets about 500 feet out, strikes the tires and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Tim Wilkerson Runs 3.969/314.02, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.048/244.65, Was #13
Right Lane: Blake Alexander Runs 4.911/144.61, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.925/327.11, Was #10

Wilkerson had a cylinder out early and he was pushed toward the centerline. He still makes his quickest pass of the weekend but he stays in the 13th spot.

Alexander gets about 400feet out, loses traction, then blows the engine and the car noses over. He leaves some fluid on the track and we will be down for a minute.

Left Lane: Jonnie Lindberg Runs 7.151/86.27, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.963/321.12, Was #12
Right Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 4.373/205.85, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.921/326.08, Was #9

Lindberg rattles the tires at the hit, gets about 100 feet out and goes up in smoke. Langdon makes a little move to the right about 500 feet out, the slicks break loose and he clicks it off.

Left Lane: Tommy Johnson Jr. Runs 3.993/319.22, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.920/324.44, Was #8
Right Lane: Matt Hagan Runs 4.122/245.27, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.890/310.77, Was #6

Johnson goes down the groove with a decent pass but he doesn't improve. Hagan was right with Johnson for the first 600 feet, then he hazes the tires and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Paul Lee Runs 3.920/325.14, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.912/316.08, Was #7
Right Lane: Bob Tasca III Runs 3.976/305.98, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.883/327.90, Was #5

Lee makes an impressive pass for the conditions but he doesn't improve. Tasca makes a clean pass but he doesn't improve.

Left Lane: Ron Capps Runs 4.633/179.88, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.881/332.43, Was #4
Right Lane: Robert Hight Runs 5.981/114.05, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.851/335.07, Was #2

Hight gets about 300 feet out and goes up in smoke. Capps gets a little further, hazes the tires and clicks it off.

Left Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 3.949/323.12, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.866/334.40, Was #3
Right Lane: John Force Runs 4.317/211.00, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.834/337.33, Was #1

Todd makes a clean, straight pass but he doesn't improve. Force gets about 500 feet out, hazes the tires and clicks it off.
