CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 12th annual NTK NHRA Carolina Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Bob Gilbertson No Time, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.810/88.09, Was #18
Right Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.970/326.00, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.871/121.08, Was #17

2:34 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 87 degrees, relative humidity 37 percent, barometer 29.27 inches, adjusted altitude 3,242 feet, track temperature 110 degrees.

Gilbertson staged and he had to click it off because of a fluid leak. Langdon goes down the groove with his first full pass of the weekend and he moves up to the eighth spot bumping out Haddock in the process.

Left Lane: Jonnie Lindberg Runs 4.040/320.28, Now #12; Best prior run: 4.000/322.50, Was #12
Right Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 3.955/321.04, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.976/326.08, Was #10

Lindberg makes a good pass but doesn't improve. Pedregon goes down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend and he gets in the top half of the field for now.

Cruz Pedregon's incremental times: 60ft-0.885 sec., 330ft-2.261, 660ft-3.196/275.67 mph.

Left Lane: Bob Tasca III Runs 3.936/327.03, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.939/324.20, Was #6
Right Lane: Mike McIntire Runs 4.762/174.75, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.219/256.99, Was #14

McIntire drifts to the left, heads for the centerline, then he backs off the throttle about 400 feet out. Tasca goes down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend but he stays in the sixth spot.

Left Lane: Terry Haddock No Time, Now #17; Best prior run: 5.442/127.92, Was #17
Right Lane: Dale Creasy Jr. Runs 4.385/209.36, Now #16; Best prior run: 4.598/182.11, Was #16

Haddock hit the throttle and went up in smoke. He backs off of the throttle and pulls over to the side of the track. Creasy was on a decent pass, starts hazing the tires about 500 feet out and clicks it off. He improves but not enough to move up in the order.

Left Lane: Tim Wilkerson Runs 3.985/321.65, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.945/318.99, Was #7

Wilkerson goes down the groove with a good pass but he doesn't improve.

Left Lane: Dave Richards Runs 5.481/127.51, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.071/297.16, Was #13
Right Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 3.980/323.04, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.972/308.43, Was #10

Richards had a cylinder out at the hit, gets pushed towards the wall, then clicks it off about 400 feet out. Todd goes down the groove with a clean pass but he doesn't improve.

Left Lane: Tommy Johnson Jr. Runs 4.584/179.44, Now #15; Best prior run: 4.233/219.08, Was #15
Right Lane: Matt Hagan Runs 3.940/328.78, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.906/328.22, Was #5

Hagan goes down the groove with a good pass but he doesn't improve. Johnson was on a decent pass but strikes the tires about 400 feet out and has to abort the run.

Left Lane: John Force Runs 4.576/181.25, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.890/331.45, Was #4
Right Lane: Robert Hight Runs 3.900/332.10, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.878/334.07, Was #2

Force gets about 400 feet out, loses traction and clicks it off. Hight goes down the groove with a good pass, the quickest of the round so far, but he doesn't improve.

Left Lane: Ron Capps Runs 3.936/325.69, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.882/330.55, Was #3
Right Lane: Jack Beckman Runs 4.759/166.46, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.873/334.07, Was #1

Beckman gets about 400 feet out, hazes the tires and has to click it off. Capps goes down the groove with a clean, straight pass but he doesn't improve.
